Seems like this came down a day earlier than expected, but still good news. Justice Scalia's comment that nothing in the ruling should "cast doubt on long-standing prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons or the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings" is interesting but a little disappointing. Still, a better a day for us than Representative Feinstein.

Yeah.. that little "sensitive places" qualifier has a little worrisome, but all in all still a huge victory.

The whole thing is riddled with exceptions trying to pander to just about every form of existing licensing, registration and "special class" of gun control except the hard-core, no-exception type bans... The only thing slightly more depressing than this sort of pandering is the fact they actually had 4 scholars so dishonest in their intellectual integrity to actually dissent on the meaning of "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

People have an infinite capacity to believe what they want to believe. We want to believe that People have the right to keep and bear arms while others want just as badly to believe that it only applies to militia members. Of course, the DC law (and anti-gun folk) did not exempt reservists so it should have been a non-starter anyway.

Moedecai,

Great Avatar and a nice ad for WGC and the Southern Nationals. If you cross-fire on our range, you are either illiterate or color blind!

I am just not too sure about the out-of-focus thing!

I figure That we never really ever win. We just don't lose. We either lose or we don't when it comes to gun control laws. Given that it's always better to not lose.

We had a special hat made for some one up here that liked to do that (indoors)... with 'Crossfire ****' embroidered on the front. We thought it was a real nice jesture on our part  , but that person doesn't seem to appreciate all the thought and love that went into it or wear it.
