Arkansas small bore

Post by kevinpagano »

How much small bore is there in Arkansas. I am looking at an opportunity down there and wondering how far the ranges were from Little Rock and participation numbers etc. Never been there. Do you people like living down there.
Thanks

Benton Gun Club has matches every third Sunday of each month, and on Wednesday every week during the spring and summer. We also have a smallbore 1/2 scale islhouette and cowboy match the second saturday of each month.
Old Fort Gun Club also has smallbore silhouette the 2nd and 4th saturday of each month.
Both clubs have websites so you can look up matches and directions on the internet.

Hope to see you at one!

Benton Gun Club is 35 minutes from my home in Little Rock, about 25 miles. Sunday, we had 22 shooters. Not unusual to see 15-18 at the Wednesday evening match. We hold the Midsouth classic each September, a two-day State Championship match which is growing well, drawing the big names and the better BS'rs from all over the Midwest and South.
We even shoot highpower the 4th Sunday of each month, Feb through Oct.
Old Fort GC is in Fort Smith on the Oklahoma border, a couple of hours from Little Rock. They hold Saturday matches twice a month. Some Little Rock folks make most of their matches and vice versa.
Both clubs are blessed with devoted match directors who would do just about anything to help the sport, Jon Niehouse in Fort Smith and Frank Bray in Benton. Accordingly, both clubs have a great core of regular shooters and an ever-expanding crop of new guys. I am truly excited about the solid growth I've seen in the sport in the last three years.
Arkansas is a wonderful, friendly place to live if you can stand long, hot, humid summers. PM me for more info. I like Arkansas.

My son and I shot the 2006 Spring Regional at Benton Gun Club in Little Rock. We live in Central Mississippi but would shoot more matchs there if school did not interfere. The hospitality, people, firing line cover, targets and everything there are great. The people there made us feel welcome. The matchs are well organized and the officials adhere closely to the rules. The Range is lacking nothing but the club members are constantly refining and expanding their facility. The range is easy to get to from Little Rock. It is located within a scenic reclaimed Aluminum Mine. If I lived in that area, I would consider it mandatory to be a member of the Benton Gun Club.
