Rifle Weight
After talking to Dawg and hearing a little from Chicken George, I have been looking at the different rifle weights for the CZ 452. The common weight is 5.8 pounds and the varmint weight is 6.8 pounds. Dawg says that it may be easier for a begginer to handle the lighter rifle. my thinking would be to get the heavier rifle now that way I don't have to re-adjust if I become a serious shooter and start traveling to out of state matches. I already have a 5 pound Savage .17hmr and a 6.5 pound 10/22 magnum. Opinions?

I like the Varmint
I'm a new shooter (only shot 3 matches so far), but I prefer the Varmint model. I went to my local dealer and handled the various CZ 452 models, and simply preferred the heft of the Varmint over the American or Silhouette/Style. Since then, I have purchased a second-hand Silhouette stock which has been opened up in the barrell channel to accomodate the Varmint action.
"Jason" who is a frequent poster here also prefers the Varmint model, which he has re-sculpted to more closely match the higher-end purpose built silhouette rifles.
If you have a local shop where you can handle the various models, I think your decision would be simplified.
