Kimber HS: will it make weight for sporter class?

Will the hunter-silhouette model Kimber make the weight limit for hunter class, or was it designed to be an open class gun? Thanks, Paul.

I have definitely seen them used in standard and hunter and believe they do make weight.

Depending on your choice of scope and rings it is usually a challenge to bring an HS in at the 8.5 hunter class weight limit. Note I said usually, YMMV.

Just weighed mine; Kimber HS, which is stock with Leupold rings/base & Weaver T-24. It comes in at 8lb 2oz. so you won't have much trouble making Hunter Class.

If I am not mistaken Lones Wigger helped design the HS for silhouette and it will pass for hunter. Mine weighs 8lbs and 7 oz with premier reticle scopes and BKL aluminum rings.

Now I have seen Kimber HS that needed the stocks to be hollowed a bit and the sling attachements removed to make weight.

It is just the inconsistency of the wood stock that makes the big difference.

Now if you send that action to Evelio and let him put a nice fiberglass stock on it, then you can be sure that you will have a rifle that will make the weight limit.

I shot one before I had a Annie made and yes, depending on what rings and scope you use it will make weight. I took the sling studs off and used a BKL dove tail base and BKL rings and a leupold fx III scope and it was only 8.2.
