Evelio did a 1712 transplant for me and the operation is a success! Hauling my wood stock 1712 to Benton persuaded me that, as much as I like wood, it will cause grief. Who knew a 1.5 MOA shift in elevation could be so frustrating?

So Evelio took the 54 action and fit it with a beautiful new Pharr stock, stirred in a little Pharr bottom metal, added his trademark crepe rubber recoil pad and a white pin stripe and wow! This thing will SHOOT! I opted to keep the Anschutz barrel because I couldn't rationalize replacing it. The composite stock is more stable, the Pharr trigger guard gives the trigger more adjustment range, the wider trigger (a modest cost option) just plain feels better and the larger bolt knob makes an amazing difference when working the bolt.

All I can say is, get your rifle in line for an Evelio tune up, listen to his advice, and turn him loose. You'll be very, very pleased with the result.

It's just more pleasurable to shoot now, Evelio. I suppose that when it comes to metal work, the Anschutz 54 action is very hard to beat but their "contact points" - butt, grip, trigger shoe, cheek piece, bolt knob and so on - are a little less perfect.

I'm chomping at the bit to pull the trigger on a 1712 thru Evelio in a Pharr stock................

Just kidding, I understand things of such beauty need be shown in their best light.

I'd imagine you went blue........I'm thinking HD orange and black granite myself.

Of course it's blue.....Anybody that knows Bob knows he would never own anything but a blue gun. I've known Bob for a long time. He and I went to Penn-State togeather (or was it the State-Penn)??........

Guilty - Midnight blue is the dominant color with royal blue marbling. Listen to Evelio on the "contact point" issues like the Pharr trigger shoe and bolt knob. I don't know if they make you shoot better, but they sure make the rifle feel and operate better. He's bedding & butting a stock for me now and I'm skipping the trigger shoe because this is a worn FWt stock for a backup/loaner that I don't want to put a Pharr guard on, so the trigger shoe would be a tight fit, but I have asked for a new bolt knob. And yes, there will be blue in the dip color pattern...
