Greg Sullivan wins big at OFGC's opening match

Post by jneihouse »

Benton's Greg Sullivan was the overall match winner at OFGC's season opener on Saturday. Greg, squadded with Chiken George, craftilly allowed Chiken to stay within reach throughout the match, and finished first, skillfully estimating the number of Chickens that Chiken would be able to hit, forcing the Chickster into yet another shootoff with Sullivan. The tension was tremendous as Greg toyed with Chiken, allowing the shootoff to go three deep into the turkeys. Then, in the third round, Sullivan quickly killed his Turkey putting the pressure on Chiken George. Predictably, the Chickster crumbled, keeping his shootoff loss with Sullvan intact for yet another week.

Man, it was fun, you should have been there.

John,

Let me first thank for letting our group join you for your season opener, we had a great time. Secondly, kudos to you for your extremely accurate and insightful accounting of the days events.

Unfortunately, based on the last few lines of Chickens reply, I can only surmise that he has been afflicted with TROPHY BLINDNESS, as evidenced by his rapidly deteriorating typing skills.

I feel somewhat to blame for his condition in that I did place the trophy on the dashboard of my truck directly in front of Chicken. However, it was relocated to the back seat (after repeated threats to throw it out the window) soon after the journey home began. Saddly, the lure of the gleaming gold of the shooting star called out to Chicken as he repeatedly cast longing glances to the rear seat where the trophy lay hidden. We were well into the trip, in fact almost home, before I realized that my back seat passenger had dozed off and the heavy wool sweater covering the trophy had slipped off, thus increasing the temptation to gaze upon it for poor Chicken. By the time we reached his house, his eyes had a vacant and glazed look and I knew he was suffering from TROPHY BLINDNESS. As I said, I can only blame myself, I should have known that Chicken wasn't strong enough to resist the lure of my GLEAMING GOLD SHOOTING STAR TROPHY. We can only hope that in the days and weeks to come his vision will return to normal, and I truly hope he's better before our next shoot off :!:

And to you Chicken, I'm sorry, I should have known better than to leave that GLEAMING GOLD SHOOTING STAR TROPHY exposed.

I know that your loving wife will be reading the posts on this board to you until your eyes are better, and I can only hope that her voice will serve to sooth and calm you in this, your time of despair.

That is not how you discribed it to me, the term "Beating him like a rented mule" came up repeatadly, and also "To be the man, you got to beat the man"

But your version sound more humane, PETA lover

I heard someone in the gallery, as Greg hauled in award after award, saying something like "Chiken's going to have to start calling Greg The Bus Driver, cause he sure took the Chickster to school........and I'm sure that I heard at least once someone say "Ole Gregs' treating Chiken like family....Beating him like a stepchild"....Sure sets the stage for a ferocious battle on the beach at Jacksonville in a couple of weeks...

Let me first say that I find it deeply disturbing on a number of levels that Chicken apparently watched the Academy Awards, although it does explain a few things.
I also now realize just how lucky I've been. With every new day I discover something about Chicken I never knew. I thought for a long, long...... long time that skill had in some way played a part in my limited successes. I now know that I was merely the recipient of Chickens generosity. It is remarkable if you stop and think about it. To know that Chicken has been sooooo giving for sooooo long is quite impressive. In looking back, I now realize just how many people Chicken has seen fit to bestow his generosity upon. Surley he will be rewarded for all of his giving some day.

I thought Chicken was eating a candy bar on the way home from Ft. Smith, apparently it was only a bag of sour grapes. LMAO

Dang Greg! You need to rememebr to log in when you post! LOL.
As this is my first post here, let me say congrats to the win. I've seen you shoot and figured it was just a matter of time. (LOL You've seen me shoot as well, ain't no threat there).
Just to give you a clue (Since I know you haven't figured out who this is yet) I know you more from Rosedale Optimist than from Benton, though I did shoot the old Glenfeild in hunter class once.
The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject.

Thanks Vibe. I thought I was logged in, but then that's what I get for thinking.

As far as my BIG WIN at Ft. Smith, just another day at the range. Chicken was just a little off his feed that day or things might have turned out otherwise....... Aw heck, who am I kidding, I did beat him like a rented mule! John, you're right Chicken is like family, that's why I whupped him like a redheaded stepchild! It was great, the only problem I have now is with my interior lighting at home. It seems that the GIGANTIC GLISTENING GLEAMING GOLD SHOOTING STAR TROPHY is way too brilliant the display with all of the lights turned on. I will probably have to get a custom built case with smoked glass so it can be viewed safely by all.

On another topic, I think Chicken is now fully recovered from his brief battle with TROPHY BLINDNESS and ready to shoot this weekend. I plan to be much more careful in Jacksonville and on the return trip. If the brief exposure to my many large trophies on the short ride from Ft. Smith to Little Rock was too much for Chicken, I can only imagine the danger he will be in during the long ride home from Florida, thankfully, most of the trip will be at night. Even so, I think I will take something to pack them in and put them in the back of the truck. Better safe than sorry.
