6.5x55 SE military rear aperture sight.
Hi..Were there ever any 6.5 x 55 military rifles issued with peep sights as standard?
I'd like to use a mil 6.5mm for service rifle but all the rifles I have seen have got leaf type sights.
There are some rifles that were made for target shooting with aperture sights but as they are not general issue they are not permitted in silhouette service rifle.
Any pics or links would be most welcome.
Thanks.

Hi Bill,
No issued Swedish Mausers were made with the peep sights. The M96s or CG63s were done for FSR (equivalent to NRA) taget /field shooting.
If you go onto gunboards forums, they have a Swedish military weapon section which is the goto place for info on Swedish mausers.

I held/shot the target version one time many years ago. I remember the peeps sights as pretty good, low recoil, heavier trigger. I have a couple M96 rifles for no reason at all. Never shot one, and I guess I had them for 25 years. I have a pretty minty 96 with a 69 dollar price tag still on the trigger guard.

I'll give you 3 $20s and a $10 for that rifle. You can keep the dollar change.

Saving that one for the auction when they stuff me in the box. It will be a great auction. Lol.Jerry G wrote:I'll give you 3 $20s and a $10 for that rifle. You can keep the dollar change.

I shoot an m/96 with a Soderin rear, among others, in the hunting/standard gun categories locally...
No one shooting with a scope has so far complained
I will say, one day I cleaned a bank of turkeys and another day a bank of rams. Most thrilling thing I've done with a rifle.
In all honestly, I finally picked up a "real" silhouette rifle in 7mm-08 and the kids shoot my Swede's now, and they're in love with them as well.
