What have you found best 139 Scenars or 142 Sierra's for Ram

More expensive to feed, but worth it.

What have you found best 139 Scenars or 142 Sierra's for Ram

Post by Dee »

I was fortunate enough to win a door prize for 2 boxes of Lapua bullets in Benton. Currently I am shooting the 6.5 108 Scenars and then hopping up to 142 Sierras for Rams. I have read some promising things about the 139's seeming to hit harder. Anyone have any experience with them that can discern a difference to say one way or another? The Lapua appears to have a slightly higher BC. Just wondering if I should get some more 108's to replace the ones I recently ate up or maybe get some 139's as a couple hundred for just rams will last for a few.

What were your loads using the 139's if you have any input on the matter? Velocity?

Dee, This is just what I've found, I'm not running a 2-3 gun ballistic lab. The 107's and 108's shot great in my guns, but I've since went to 123's, seem to shoot better in the wind. Shot both Sierra 142's and 139 Lapuas. Both were very accurate. The Lapua seemed to ring less rams. I'm playing around with the 140 Hornady AMax bullets right now. Haven't rang a ram yet, but there are not as accurate as the other two. I have a bud who is the current Canadian HP champ, who couldn't get those wonder Cart (whatever) bullets to shoot in his gun, so basically pick your poison and play around and find out what works for you.
