cooper 57m 22lr- anyone shoot?

Post by dan222 »

hi steelshooters,
i have a chance to purchase a used but like new, cooper 57m in 22lr. it is the classic.
i would think the cooper is a step up from the 541, is it close to an anschutz? might be able to get it for $1000.
looking for input on how they shoot. the test target has the 3 shots in the same hole. thanks in advance.....dan

i do not own a cooper, wish i did, they are beautiful, i do know 3 shooters who shoot silhouette wit them, theya are all top quality, and all shoot lights out.

some folks got pissed that the former owner gave some cash to the obama campaign. i dont give a crap what his politacal views are. to each his own. they are very nice. Evelio and others know far more than i about tuning, set up customaization etc. i only know i like them. a jackson squrrill is about perfect in my opinion.

all 3 are great shooters. one is a varminter, the others are more traditional sporters. wood is awesome, i would be scared to scratch them, but i WOULD shoot them, and never consider uglyfying them with a Pharr

Coopers are not evil. Their quality tends to vary a lot and they are not far from the price of a 1712 that is designed for silhouette and doesn't have nearly the variance in quality. That means that if you are going to spend almost the same price, it's better to get a gun with a more ergonomic stock design for standing shooting and less chance of poor shooting/cycling reliability with the Anschutz 1712. The Cooper triggers are also nowhere near the Anschutz in quality, in my opinion. They do often have some beautiful wood, though. My match rifles tend to get dinged up traveling around to matches and I'd be worried about that beauty getting tarnished.
