Lugs with just enough high temp grease to make the surface shiny (but not enough to see it accumulated on the surface) and otherwise Rem-oil or similar.

Whatever's lying around. But seriously, I've used Clenzoil, Remoil and USGI surplus gun oil and I really like those pre-soaked cleaning clothes by Birchwood. I got a bunch at Southern Nationals one time - very handy when you need them.

I use lubes from 10-Ring Service in Jacksonvile, FL. Unfortunately when I tried to pull them up their web site, to post the URL, it is no longer there so maybe they went out of business. They used to be an Anschutz service center. Maybe Mary or Hammy from FL will know if they are still in business.

Bummer :( , I knew he was ill as one of the rifles I sent him a few years ago took a long time to repair and he told me he was having some problems. His lube kits were great, still have only one left. I'll have to drop Neal a note and see if he picked up the lube kits too.

Steve passed away a couple years ago, but 10 ring is still in business. His daughter and a few old employees are continuing on, I saw them at Camp Perry last august. BTW I've been using Mobil 1 on my bolts...

Thanks Kevin... Just called and talked to Deb.

They still have the kits available, they are called the ‘Competitor Lube Kit’. All comes in a nice little carry container and includes the following TW-25 Grease and MC2599 Oil, Grease Applicators, Needle Oiler and Spray unit, all for $26.00

10 Ring Service can be reached at 904-724-7419

On a rimfire or centerfire bolt gun for silhouette shooting I usually grease the bolt lugs and the cocking cam.
A good extreem pressure grease is best because of the pushing against the lugs.
Pro Shot gold had been one of the best I have used and it is also good against water and temperature.

Here's what I use on my rifle's. I use this mostly on my AR's and run them wet. But use it on everything else that needs lubing also. I just put a little action grease on my 22 bolts, but this works well also. It makes a ton so you can share with friends. :D

2 parts Mobile 1
1 part STP
1 part Lucas pure synthetic oil additive
