Wow...I think it would be like lobbing morter shells at 500 meters with that one....I think it would ...but you will be using the lighter bullets to keep the speed up I would think. I'm guessing your speeds would be somewhere around 1900-2000 fps with 168 gr bullets I have to look in the reloading book to be sure...But I have shoot a 7mm tcu at 500 and it was good on the rams so I think your 30br would be about the same performance.

Will it take the rams down--yes sometimes-- depending on the bullet.
If you are stuck on the BR case a choice of 6.5 or 7mm would be better. Look at the balistics of the bullets. The 30 is not the best choice for this game it goes way up and way down to hit the 500 m target and is running slow and any wind will eat you.
