Help with trigger

Post by ShooterP14 »

I have a Walther LG300XT air rifle. The manual indicates the trigger pull is adjustable from 50-129g (1.8-4.2oz). Does anyone know if there is a mod to increase the pull to 2lbs? After practicing with it between matches and then going back to my 2lb Anschutz for a match, it takes a quite a while (if at all) to get used to the heavier trigger.

Not sure about the air rifle, but I replaced a spring in my Walther UIT to get the weight up to 2lbs. Should be able to easily tell if that will work by looking at your trigger group and seeing what the weight adjustment screw does. :)

Going from the 10 meter Air Rifle Match trigger to the Hunter Smallbore 2 lbs. trigger is the most difficult thing I have ever tried in sports except maybe hitting topspin backhands in tennis. The more a person makes that transition from the 10 meter trigger to the 2lbs. trigger the easier the transition will become. This transisiton is especially difficult at the Southern Nationals in Winnsboro because you shoot the Air Rifle that weighs 12 lbs. or more for three days and then on Friday at Lunch walk right over to the Smallbore line and start practice with the 2lbs. trigger with a rifle that is super light(less than 8 & 1/2 lbs.) in overall weight. The more you flip the switch in the brain and the trigger finger from heavy rifle with light trigger to light rifle with heavy trigger, the easier it is to flip that switch.

That LG300XT trigger is fantastic. Our only Walther trigger has never been touched because it was perfect from the factory. Just my opinion but I would really hold off on this change a little while until I spent more time with both rifles. It would be nice though if there was a 2 lbs. trigger air rifle out there in a Pharr stock that had the same recoil as the Smallbore rifles for training purposes since Smallbore Ammo is now so costly. This has already happened somewhat in Highpower across the course Service Rifle with an AR15 Air Rifle.

Neal Stepp at ISSF in Fort Worth is the person who would have the 2lbs. Walther spring or know if it existed.
