Louisiana State Championship Match...

After much discussion I have been asked by Jerry "Whats the Internet" Tureau to post here on Steelchickens about plans for a Louisiana State Championship match. Not having the proper facilities to host such a match at our local shooting venues a decision has been reached that our club EASL (East Ascension Shooters League) will host the match. The Winnsboro Gun Club has been gracious enough to offer their range for us to use for hosting the match. As we all know no other venue offers the silhouette shooter such a fine shooting experience so how could we say no

As of right now we are just looking for feedback from shooters as to who would be interested in attending. In light of there not being a match in Benton Ark. in September and the Southern Nats not being a State Championship Match this year we were thinking of holding the 2 day match during the mid to end of the month.

We won't even pretend to have anyone thinking this is another Southern Nationals as there can only be one match of that caliber put on by the great folks in Winnsboro. This would be a match for shooters by shooters and we intend to make it as nice as possible for all that attend. Trophies for the match winners etc and lunch provided both days. More ideas are being kicked around locally and details will follow. At this time we are just trying to gauge the potential turnout by fellow Silhouette shooters for a State match at this time and location.

Please feel free to respond with any ideas or input you may have concerning the above and we will continue to plan for this match going forward. This will be our clubs 1st large scale match and we hope to make it fun for everyone with an eye towards the future.

Give us some dates and we'll put it on our "must make" calendars.....Being that close we should bring a few shooters from the Fort Smith Arkansas area.

Got a confirmed date of September 19-20 which is the 3rd weekend of the month.

Would be great to get as many regional area shooters to come as possible. Seems like Winnsboro's location is near the center of the areas that hold regular matches locally.

Winnsboro Gun Club is honored that Tureau and his group of shooters have chosen our gun club for their match. Jerry and I are looking forward just relaxing and visiting at the match as Jerry and his crew put on what should be a really great match. The third weekend of September has been set aside for East Ascension Shooters League to use our facilities. The dates actually set aside are September 16-20 to give them plenty of opportunity to have the range set up for the match. I am sure that "Internet" Jerry and Dee will be sending out more information as it nears.

Too good to be true! Another great Match less than a two hour drive away. I plan on being there. I will do all I can to convince my local, monthly shooters to attend this Match. Is this going to be Smallbore only or Air Rifle also?

I've got it on my calendar as well. Whether or not Kolby gets to come will depend entirely on when school starts....Should be some other shooters from the Ft. Smith area make the trip.....Any excuse to shoot a top quality range and shoot the breeze with my friends should not be overlooked.
