High Power Semi-Auto Military Rifle Silhouette
M1 & M1A, Semi-Auto Shooters:
High Power Semi-Automatic Military Rifle Silhouette (NRA approved match)
The Ridgway Rifle Club in Ridgway, PA will hold (3) HP Semi-Automatic Military Rifle Silhouette Matches in 2008.
The match dates are: April 6 - May 4 & June 15, 2008.
All matches will be NRA approved and the April - May dates will be two 40 rounds matches each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon providing there's enough entries. The range will be open at 8:00 a.m. for practice and sighting and the regulation match will be at 10:00 a.m. If you want to shoot in the afternoon match you must also shoot the morning match.
The June 15th match will be considered the Championship Match and the format is yet to be determined. A club record will be established with High Score and most animals in a row of each animal type with any semi-auto. Additional recognition will be made to the High Score and most animals in a row for each animal type with a M1 Garand.
Your NRA Classification can be established prior to the Championship Match by shooting at least one score at either the April or May match. If not, you will be shooting as unclassified and placed in Master Class on that day. This is a recognized event by the NRA and HP silhouette scores will not be considered. The NRA score book for silhouette list this event as High Power Semi-Automatic Military Rifle and that's where the scores need to be shot and recorded.
The distances you will be shooting at are:
Chickens at: 200 Meters
Pigs at: 300 Meters
Turkeys at: 385 Meters
Rams at: 500 Meters
Here's a rough estimation of the clicks up from dead bottom on a M1:
Chickens at: 18-20 clicks
Pigs at: 22-24 clicks
Turkeys at: 27-29 clicks
Rams at: 31-33 clicks
The rule book also states 6MM or larger caliber so if you are concerned that there will be AR's (223)on the line they are not eligible.
The Ridgway Rifle Club located on Grant Rd. in Ridgway, PA is a premier club that host the NRA National Silhouette Championships in both High Power and Small Bore. The HighPower range, where this event will be held, is to say the least, HUGE. If you have never shot at a 500 Meter range before, this will be an experience not soon forgotten.
The match will be run by Randy Ent. Unfortunately he doesn't have email but please send me a PM and I'll give you his phone number.

M1 Match
Match Report: Semi-Auto Military Rifle Silhouette Match - Ridgway Rifle Club
This match was a real challange. It's hard enough shooting at these distances with a scope but this was a open sight as issued service rifle match. There were 12 shooters and the match was (2) 40 round relays.
The 4 guys from NY went down with thier M1's and took the top awards.
Jocko - Match winner (kneeling), Bob - 1st Place (2nd from left), Paul- 2nd Place (4th from left), and Pete -3rd Place (not shown took picture)
The next match is May 4 and the Championship is June 15, 2008
