Everyone OK down there around Pe Ell?

Post by Jason »

Just got my daily weather email and it said this...
Flooding was expected to reach record severity along the Chehalis, Skokomish, and Elwha rivers. For the Chehalis, the river will flood places it's never flooded before near Centralia, Lewis County officials said.
All you folks down there OK? Anything we can do for you if you got flooded? I have nothing planned other than the Tacoma Sportsmen Club match this weekend, and would be glad to come down and help out if someone's house or the Pe Ell range needs helps recovering from the flooding.

Hey Jason...Thanx for your concern...but you just cant get here from there. Geeze, tha damn fool interstate I-5 freeway is closed from exit 68 to exit 88. That's 20 miles. The PeEll exit is at Mile Post 77.

I expect the hill I live on will be an island in the morning.

The bridge over the Chehalis River on Chandler road on the way to the PeEll range where Steve Wooster lives is, well,...gone....downstream somewhere....The streets of downtown PeEll is under water also.

The helicopter rescue teams have my pets hiding under the beds because I am in the direct flight path of these brave guys trying to rescue all the poor souls who have taken refuge on their freakin rooftops.

Still, after the freeway opens up and the water receeds a lot, lets us know if there is anything at all that we can do.

I didn't know it rained in western WA. Last time I was there they were complaining about the drought.

Dave, I'm not sure about Steve....Last time we talked, the " river " was real close to his house and then all lines of communication just went dead.

I have no regular phone service but I stiil do have my DSL working...Good news is that maybe by Thursday morning, I might get to town in my truck, not my jet boat.....M.

I dont know if they showed this on the national news or not but for everybody outside of Washington who has participated at the Conrad Bernhardt Cup and has driven through that wonderfull little town of Pe Ell, who is gracious enough to let us use there high school for saturday nights dinner, is completley under water. All the bridges that lead to Pe Ell are gone, simply washed away. The Coast Guard is flying in food and supplies to hundreds of people who are stranded. Please put the towns people of Pe Ell, Centralia, and Chehalis in your thoughts and prayers, alot of them have lost everything they own.

Also saw the exit sign on the highway for Pe Ell almost covered and they said there is 10 foot of water on the 4 lane through that area. We had bad flooding here in the northeast last November so our thoughts are with them for sure.

To those in the Pe Ell area, you are in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anthing we can do to help let us know. I have found some pictures of the areas that I recognize, doesn't look pretty and having worked in flood control for 12 years I'm fully aware of what water can do.
God bless you.

I haven't seen the news for a while and didn't know how bad the flooding was. I do hope the area quits flooding soon so your lives can get back to normal.
