Yeah I knew I was taking my chances with the weight but I really thought it would have been just under. Oh well thats the way the scope weighs I guess.

Just inquired about a loaner 36x Leupold with a dot for the Ark match so I don't have to make a hasty decision in the next day or so about what scope to go with instead.

I like the Sightron scopes but 24x is just not enough magnification for me anyone. I like at least 32x with a booster to around 36+x The variable power of the 4200 was not a big concern for me as I leave it on 32x all the time, I just love the glass clarity and turrets that I have on all my other rifles.

Leaning towards a Weaver if I can get one with acceptable glass quality, that is my biggest issue with Weavers. If I have to get one and send it back a couple times till they send me a clear one that might be what I need to do. I can also get it boosted even higher in the future if I wanted, though I think close to 40x is about as high as I want to be.

Main issue is making it work for next month in Benton. After that I have time to decide and not be hasty. Maybe look for something used etc who knows.

Dee,

Talk with Chicken George. He can get you a great deal on the FXIII Leupold with a 1/2min dot. I just order a 25x from he yesterday. It is the lightest scope out there and I think you would be happy with the 30x they offer.

I am surprised you had trouble with the weight, I have the same stock with a Kreiger #5 25" long, and a Leuplod 6.5x20 Long range 30mm side focus scope, Xtreme 2 stage trigger, and full recoil pad. It comes in 2 oz under the limit.

Sent Chicken a check earlier this week for the FX3 30x with 3/8" dot. I couldn't believe it didn't make weight either I thought it would be close but not 3 ounces over. Those 8-32x 4200s are a bit over 22 ounces. Not sure what the Leupold variable weights but it must be lighter.

I will just have to live with the Leupold lol.

I hope you do know that the weight limit for Hunter class in High Power is 9 lbs. not 8 1/2 lbs. like smallbore.

Yes I know that Evelio but thanks for pointing it out incase I was overlooking that fact. Doing my calculations on weight I thought I had enough room for the 4200 using the #4 Contour barrel and comparing the weights of those with FX3s on them. Seems that barrel weight savings never materialized on the scale. Its all good the FX3 will just be my first Leupold. After cussing the reverse objective adjustment a few dozen times I will get used to it lol.
