Any State championship in NY?

Post by mike4764 »

I run the silhouette program at our club in Troy NY. I was thinking about holding a state championship but this would require alot of additional work to our range. I was just curious if there was intrest in this? If there is I might be able to convince our club president to invest some funds to make the range meet the NRA requirements.

I've participated in all the local matches in Southern NY and Eastern PA for the passed 8 years and think that a NYS match would draw a reasonable amount of competitors from NY as well a PA.

About 5 of us (NY shooters) have went to the PA sates for the past 5 years and although we are not eligible for the state championship title there are plenty of other awards and prizes. There are many clubs in the northeastern part of PA that would come to a NY state match.

The fellow that runs the matches in Binghamton, NY was thinking along running a NYS match but like you their ranges would need a little upgrade. I know he had some other ideas also. His name is Mike Sporer and he reads this forum so I'm sure he'll jump in. His program at Broome County Sportsmen is going great.

I have an extensive list of matches, dates and contacts for the various ranges around the area and could help you with some PR work if you decide to go forward.

I'm pretty sure i could get a few to come with me from SE PA. Just make sure you don't clash dates with, other States, Nationals, Southern Nationals, that includes SB, HP and Air Rifle etc. So far I have not seen any info on a PA, SB States.

PPkny, Some times a word like "BRILLIANT" can be enough.

To Mike4764,
How are you coming with your plans to host a 2008 NYS SB Silhouette Championship? I have some important dates on matches that will be held in PA in 2008. Please email me at [email protected]
