New Tikka .22 rimfire
Does anyone have information regarding the up coming release of the Tikka .22 rimfire rifle? Does anyone expect to purchase one? It looks like it might make a nice present for one of my nephews.

You're right! I expect their supply to stay tight well into the summer, though!

Haven't heard about it and can't find anything on the web about it. Sure it's not a Sako?

It's a Tikka though you wouldn't know it from them. The only information I've seen was from blog type sites.
Below is all the information I've seen published with an alleged street price of $409.

Re: New Tikka .22 rimfire
I think they will really have a stronghold in the market if the rimfires share the same accuracy that the centerfires are reported to have if they can open up a few more models. The $4-600 range for "better than a Savage, but not the price of a Sako/Anschutz/Cooper" has really only been occupied by CZ and the 77/22.

Will the heavy barrel meet Hunter Rifle rules?

We will have to find out, but so far all Tikka centerfire rifles have a tapered barrel, even the varmint and target Sporter ones.

Re: New Tikka .22 rimfire
From reading the specs, either rifle will make weight but the heavy barrel will probably have a cylindrical barrel without any taper, so it would only qualify for the standard class. If I'm reading it right the 20" barrel is tapered, so it would qualify as a hunter class rifle.
If Tikka is true to form, the T1x will be a - comparatively - plain Sako Finnfire and a tremendous value.

I have mine pre-ordered through Whittakers and after talking with them found out they will get the .22 version mid to late April and the 17HMR version mid May.

Eric have you laid hands on one to make sure it's kosher? I'm curious as they could be a game changer for peeps wanting to get into the sport.

Hey Mark,
I have not held one, but with all of the rave reviews and videos out on it, I couldn't resist ordering one. You know I'm a sucker for rifles made in Finland. Hope to see you at a match soon!

I hope someone get their hands on one soon. With all of the fanfare I wonder if I should sell off the current rifle and replace it with on if these new Tikkas.

I have one on order as well, hoping the Quad magazines fit because that's a 10 round and well......ugly!
Supposedly they will show up before tax day here locally.
