Whittington housing reservations

Post by hermit5 »

I know some of you have probably lucked out and got through to Whittington for reservations.
I have been trying for over 2 hours redialing every minute and still busy. This system really sucks.
I suggest they try 1st week of Feb for reservations in April,2nd week May etc.
Or take calls in order they are received.
Anyone else care to opine?

3 hr for me. Probably close to 100 attempts per hour.

Just the way it is. Worth every second of it too.

G'day All
I got through from Australia after about the fourth redial. Got into the accommodation we wanted and the staff member I dealt with couldn't have been any friendlier or more helpful. I don't understand the negativity on this site towards Whittington Centre. I travel halfway round the world to shoot there, it's a great place! :-bd

I'm with you Taps. They are always friendly, once in a great while confused, But we absolutely love the place. We spend our vacations there and probably would if we could only shoot air rifles. It's a GREAT place.

Shooters are among the grumpiest, most difficult of people sometimes. I don't know why folks like to complain about the Whit and the NRA either. I'll be there for 2 weeks once again. I'll add another 60 shots for score to my annual allotment. It will be a grand time.

It's an 8 hour drive for us, but we've been known to grab a couple of guns and just go shoot there. We have a GREAT gun club about an hour from us, but the Whittington center is one of a kind and we enjoy the climate, view and shooting with shooters from all over the world. If we didn't have a Grand Monkey in Oklahoma, we would move to Raton.

Just kinda wondering what the percentage is as far as the moaners/groaners that complain about the NRA is match directors that have to deal with the Silhouette Dept's. BS, and what the percentage is of the NRA's strokers are that don't do anything but show up and shoot.

I am not a moaner, groaner nor a stroker. I shoot air rifle, small bore, and lever action. I've read of others experiences with the NRA over the years. That is their experiences which has a direct influence with their opinions. I understand that.
Team Hatch has put on one registered regional match, a indoor air rifle match, with associated paperwork along with my phone calls to Greg with questions. I also pestered Dustin with many phone calls and questions also. After the tournament, I submitted the paperwork for 28 National Records along with more questions to Greg. I had zero problems with either person. All 28 records were researched, membership checked, and all records were approved and posted in what I considered a reasonable amount of time.
Other than that, I show up and shoot but do help empty trash, put up the animals and such.
Just my opinion, formed from my experiences.

We put on matches, have done a couple of regional s and are thinking of doing more. We have had zero problems with the NRA. We barely have time to shoot our own match and sometimes just don't shoot. We have an occasional case of butthurt with some cranky shooter, but the majority of folks are good and we have fun. Not everyone can be pleased, but I've found that if you are cheerful and kind the NRA, and people in general, will respond the same way. There are a few that are cranky, but they should just take up another hobby. We have done it all. Cooked, empty the trash and put up targets in the rain LONG after everyone has collected their prizes and gone home and for the vast majority of shooters...it's all worth it for us. We are looking forward to a GREAT shooting season and really missour buds. We'll see you all this summer. xoxoxoxooxoxox
