Lady Shooters Only
Do you wear big ear rings? Do they change your stock/cheek weld if you do.

Thinking of getting your ear pierced?
I buy all my guns from t-rex. He's a small arms dealer.

My wife shoots with ear rings and she keeps adjusting her head. Most of her misses are high...I was wondering if any other women leave the earrings off while shooting to help get a better cheek weld to the stock.

Glen,
Have you ever considered long hair as being an issue as well? If it gets behind the buttstock, recoil can pull it out. I've seen some shooters fight a lot with this, and not just women.

I never thought about the hair thing...I know when I had my ear plugs tied together I have had the stock pull one out. The hair thing is something else I'll watch for. Thanks

Re: Lady Shooters Only
My shooting partner got some new earplugs made by Glenda this year. He liked them until he got that cord behind his buttstock and it ripped the earplug out of his ear so fast and hard, and with so much suction, that he thought he might have ruptured an eardrum. It hurt a lot, but all was well in the end, and now his plugs have no lanyard between them. He was shooting a .45- 70 with 82 gr of Swiss 1.5 and a 500+ gr bullet so there was plenty of recoil.
He still uses the plugs, but he will never tie them together again.

Re: Lady Shooters Only
Back in the day when I was shooting high power across the course we used a sticky spray to spray on our shooting glove. This helped to hold the rifle firmly into the shoulder while shooting rapid fire strings. I knew one shooter with a handle bar mustache that left a good portion of said mustache on the stock of his rifle after shooting a rapid fire relay.

I didn't know all you guys were 'ladies only'. I learn something new every day but I still don't know about the ear rings, not that I would ever wear any.

Glen This is easy to answer. 1. Ask her if the ear rings are bothering her. 2. Remove the rings and see what happens.

Today Jeanne had the big ear rings out and it seemed to allow her better consistency in placing the rifle stock the same spot each time. She shot better than ever so I guess the small details are important.

Do not be so negative! I am confident you would look like one in a thousand wearing ear rings.Jerry G wrote: I still don't know about the ear rings, not that I would ever wear any.

I always take mine out.
I keep a small jewlery pouch in my range bag.
