We had our monthly HP match yesterday. Eleven shooters in the am, ten for the pm match. Conditions were breezy for std. gun, windy half way through hunter. As usual, "biggie", Mr.Big or what ever dominated the score sheet with a 30 and 22. Good shooting, Dave. ^:)^

So, I took in $160 in fees and awarded half of it to the class winners. Our rank break down was:

one master...two AAA....three AA....five B shooters. I chose to pay the winner of each class regardless of number in class. Kinda crazy, oh what the heck. This is our typical shooter break down each month. I am leaning strongly towards changing the fee to a flat $10.00 for the two gun match. Ten for one, second is free. There would be NO cash award payout with this change. All money goes to the club. The exception may be the newer shooters. Collect an extra couple of bucks from all to be awarded to the class winner. I really like the "bragging rights" comment being enough mentioned above. What would you do?

Come on people, post more fee info from other silhouette clubs.

Well Bob...that was very enlightening. At my monthly (April 27) I had 3 target setters/workers and 2 shooters! The weatherman forecasted storms and hail and some of my shooters went to Columbia to shoot smallbore and a few others were turkey hunting. So the Silhouette discipline spent about $120 for the workers and took in $60.....and I should give out awards? So with workers comp insurance and the whining from other members that silhouette hogged the long range range for 2 guys .... I'm supposed to defend this April date next year when F class and high power want it? How do these so called shooters think they are going to have a place to shoot their $2000 rifles other than stool shooting or freaking plinking? By the way NO Storms or Hail until after 5!!!!

At the Globe-Miami Gun Club it is five bucks a gun, SB only, range not big enough for HP. No kind of awards, other than to spend time with the MD there! After the match there is usually a bbq at the picnic area. Haven't seen Rose,Sr on here for awhile, so at the Rio Salado Clubs HP match it is 12.00 for one gun with target setters, at the SB match, I believe that is 7.00 for one gun.

In Yuma, our every Friday fun matches are 5 buck for the day, shoot 2 or 3 guns if you want. Monthly Approved matches are 5 bucks a gun.

Well, here in the mountains of Western North Carolina our Monthly Smallbore Silhouette Matches go for the following:

$5/match for Senior, Junior and Asheville Rifle & Pistol Club members
$7.50/match for all others.

We can shoot 16 folks per relay and usually get 20+ each month. Our high has been 27 and we've reached that a couple times!

Just for additional info - Piedmont Gun Club, just 45 miles away in Rutherfordton, NC charges the same.

Come out and shoot with us some time.

UPDATE

Thanks for all the replies. With this info and some deep soul searching I adjusted our HP match fees the first of this month. Our new match fee - award payout is as follows. Ten dollars for one rifle, the second is FREE. Two forty shot matches for ten bucks. Awards will be for the first gun only. There must be at least three shooters in a class for any winner payout. The class winner will get his entry fee back. 2nd or third place...five bucks. All remaining money goes to the club. No awards on second gun as no money collected for that match. Award row pins for both guns as earned, as always.

See you guys on the 6th July.

Dustin, the state HP on Sept. 7th is at CRC as usual, 50 miles east of Denver. I-70 east to Byers, 18 miles NE to club. The state SB is Sept.27-28 at the Aurora Gun Club on the east side of Denver.

We have been shooting a 2 x 60 one day format for four years now. Poor attendance, seven or eight for a state match, forced me to this more sensible change from a 2 x 40 two day affair. I can do a four relay 60 shot and still get it done by mid afternoon. This months stunning 19 shooter match was great. :-bd If this trend continues I might have to look at going back to the two day match.

Southwest has really cheap direct round trip flights from New Orleans to Denver. I'm thinking a trip out to CO is in order.

8) You come to the HP state, the entry fee is on me. VIP's get special treatment 'round here. Put a bug in the wifes ear about Zwolle this year. Is it still happening?
