Reasonable match fees for HP matches?

More expensive to feed, but worth it.

How much you have to charge depends on several variables. Most important is how many shooters. High turnout you can run a low fee match. Small turn out have to charge more. Other thing that's key is the clubs participation. Club where I am MD provides the range and that’s all, have to pay for targets paint grass cutting berm maintance annual trophy’s pins score cards etc. out of match fees. If you pay target setters too it runs the cost up considerably.

I shoot at a 2nd club with low fees however there club pays for supplies and the club has mandatory work parties to perform maintance and set targets.

Having said all that I went up on small bore from 10 to 15 dollars this year and promised to provide paid target if setters if at all possable every match. 15 gives you half a day of shooting either 2x40 or 1x60 or more depending on daylight available. Afternoons turn the range over to Single Shot steel matches & most of our smallbore shooters stay over to shoot that one too. New money afternoon match however that one pays back 75 % of fees in cash prizes

Our club high power match has been dying slowly. Monthly match, Low fees, low turnout, less than 6 most of the time. I took over MD for HP and have sanctioned two matches only for 2013 at 20 dollars per match. Even at 20 the match will lose money if turn out is low. Small bore is going to subsidize it for a while. Plan to promote heavy and see what kind of turn out we can get. If it's still low will take the range time and switch it to another silhouette discipline, probably Cowboy Lever silhouette.
End of the day you can’t lose money and keep running. Whatever the fee is it’s probably the least expensive part of the day
