In my experience this is not the way real venture capital outfits works. Of course, I am only a retired CPA who worked for an international accounting firm and a New York based investment company, so what would I know. Seems like most people have no idea of how "venture capital" works. This is even more true today after the Obama machine defined it in the last year. You might want to do a little research and find out exactly why and who forced Cerberus into divesting Freedom Group. Hint: It wasn't George Soros, the shooter on the grassy knoll, or the tooth fairy.

Because Cerberus is a privately held corporation, the usual sources of information are scarce and my comments are based on conversations with current and former employees of Cerberus subsidiaries and published comments from Fiat management concerning the state of Chrysler when they took over. According to Forbes, Cerberus is divesting The Freedom Group because of investor concern following the Newtown shooting, but that's all the information I have on that so far. George Soros is probably not on the short list of potential buyers, but that is pure conjecture.

Otherwise, my experience with venture capital is ground floor - working for five different companies while sitting at the same desk, and watching each one take a bite out of my pension or 401k. So my opinion of venture capital firms and their predecessors was formed well before this presidential campaign, and I felt that both parties were guilty of misrepresentation. I've worked with accountants for almost forty years and got along very well with most, although two tried to drag me to prison with them. Guess they liked my company.

Interesting you would bring that up, since one other commentator said they hoped it was like the 788. I always thought Remington dropped that design because the 9-lug bolt was too difficult to manufacture, but maybe CNC has changed that?

This is Remington's entry into the realm of the barrel nut. Savage has been whooping Remington's ass lately and Remington is finally caving in to what shooters want. I predict that we will soon see the R700 from the factory with a nut.

It also comes with Remington's version of Savage's AccuTrigger.

You are right, it certainly is getting wierd here in Colorado, but "show me" a state that has more to offer if you don't smoke pot, drive an electric car, etc, etc. I do have it on my research list to look into that state where they apparently have "legitimate rape," but, fortunately a women's body can reject pregnancy in that case!!! It was fair when it was a .308, maybe 7-9 firings if loaded mild. I still keep the 7-08's loaded mild but lose W-W brass to head cracks at same frequency, sometimes less. Lots of bolt compression with the rear lock up design.

My first impression was of a three way cross (who's your daddy?? ) between a Ruger American, a Tika T3 and hints of the 700. Might be interesting for an in .243, .260 or even 7-08.

You know Tommy Todd the ballistician at Sierra....likes those barrel nut Savages.....Cheesy ...yes but they do shoot...so other than el cheapo manufacturing costs...why? if its close to the 788 whose lock time was faster than the 700 then that thing could be cool and a great entry level rifle for 'the game'

Doesn't sound like a cross between anything to me. It sounds like as close as possible, possibly too close, to copying the Savage barrel nut and Accutrigger designs. Maybe Remington finally figured out that those Savage rifles beating the Remingtons for accuracy while costing half as much were worth checking out.

One thing that I got from this post is Remington copied Savage and they are smoking dope in Colorado, I thought everyone knew that when John Denver sang about rocky mountain high! Now who is going to buy one?
