Personally I am skeptical, Bob. Many of those "masterminds" are no longer with us.

My guess is another cheap imitation of the model 700.

Corporate America has no use for "masterminds". Time and money rule design; not quality and function. Mike Walker was one of the main designers of the 700. He used to come to Pa. and shoot HP silhouette with us. You are right Bob there are no more Mike Walkers. Al Foust

Too true - the 700 design is what? Fifty years old? And based on an even older design, so those engineers are long gone, and unfortunately replaced with bean counters and "Venture Capitalists".

The timing makes sense with the shot show 2 weeks away. Marketing being what it is let's see what they've come up with. Since I heard RCBS had moved production to china my 1st guess would be a investment cast Chen zen built piece o' crap but in the spirit of the new year I'll keep an open mind.

Hey guys Remington is for sale!!! If all the guys who say there are no more Mike Walkers (don't tell the engineers at FN, Benelli, Blaser, etc. that), or that the corporate world does not have "masterminds" and is ruled by "bean counters" and "venture capitalists," would pool their money they could buy Remingtion for CASH!! In effect, they would be "putting their money where their mouth is" and could show us how many great ideas they have and how easy it is to compete in a global market.
Whether you realize it or not, all around the world there are many young, motivated engineers (who happen to work for "big Corporations") who dream of developing new products and processes that we could not even imagine 10 years ago (let alone understand) and smart CEO's (BTW, persona non grata at General Motors) intelligently lead them so that a great product can be sold at a profit. Open your minds and eyes, guys!

You know Remington was part of that "freedom group" conglomerate...the controlling interest in 'freedom group' is our pal-George Soros. If you can't pass laws to get their guns then just buy 'em out...that's where we're going. But hey you can have weed in Colorado, 99 weeks of unemployment, drive an electric car that won't get you out of town, join your nair-do-well in the basement and play video games all day when you're not texting or facebooking.
I wonder why Beretta or FN doesn't dive in

Might want to take a look at this (only 13 keystrokes on Google!):
http://www.factcheck.org/2011/10/george-soros-gun-grab/
You are right, it certainly is getting wierd here in Colorado, but "show me" a state that has more to offer if you don't smoke pot, drive an electric car, etc, etc. I do have it on my research list to look into that state where they apparently have "legitimate rape," but, fortunately a women's body can reject pregnancy in that case!!! And what the heck do all those people in East St. Louis do in their basements all day (I hear they don't need unemployment)?

Back to the Remington Masterminds...
I'm thinking the last brainstorm the masterminds had was a triangular profile barrel. Revelutionary. Also don't hold your breath whatever it is. I was told Remington advertises a product, then watches consumer reaction to determine production. I've seen it with their 700 Classics

Re: Back to the Remington Masterminds...
This!! They developed the .30 Remington AR over 4 years ago and still will not support the freaking cartridge. All I want is reloadable brass dammit! Quit making new crap until you support the old "masterminded" products!rich56 wrote:I'm thinking the last brainstorm the masterminds had was a triangular profile barrel. Revelutionary. Re: Okay, what does anyone know about this?
......and the .260
Date 1967. Mastermind Wayne Leek and his team introduce an inexpensive no frills hunting rifle that will shoot as good as any 700. Costs more to make, 700 sales plummet. Discontinued in 82. The Remington 788 was a decent rifle but we have enough budget rifles out there to choose from. I hope what ever it is does not have a plastic stock or is built on the AR style.

"30 Remington AR"
Something tells me that a cartridge name with the letters "AR" in it has a very limited future??

Re: Okay, what does anyone know about this?
There certainly are some talented engineers out there, but Remington is owned by Cerberus, a venture capital corporation with a track record of buying ideas, laying off engineers and hiring accountants. I hope they have something great, but I'll look them over very carefully before spending money on one. By the way, it's called the 783.Jim T. wrote:Hey guys Remington is for sale!!! ...
