243 wssm load recommendations
I'm working up hunting loads for a friend whose Featherweight 70 has mysteriously lost accuracy. He wants to shoot a 95g Nosler BT. I've found there's a tremendous amount of freebore. So much that if I seat the bullet at the lands the cartridge won't fit in the magazine.
So far, I've tried H4831sc and RL17. Neither one developed velocities I expected and peaked right at 3000 fps for each powder when I started to experience some effort to lift the bolt.
It did shoot H4350 with 75g V-Max with accuracy and 3520fps. So there's hope!
Next up is H4350 under the 95 BT. it's a bit faster and I hope to see improved velocity.
Any other ideas on powder choices? Or experience to share?

Re: 243 wssm load recommendations
I have a 25wssm not a 243, but it loves varget and heavy bullets. I use 39 grains of Varget with 120 grain sierra. Too bad no one chambers the super shorts anymore. My M70 Featherweight is a nice carry for hunting deer.

Re: 243 wssm load recommendations
I finally found a successful load with Suoerformance powder under Berger 87 VLD. I had no load data and got nervous about exceeding Hodgdons max load for a 90 gr bullet by some 2 grains. But I never saw the primers show me the tattle tail pressure signs. It printed a sub-1/2 min group at 200 yds, so I called it good!
