Hey, that's pretty cool. Could make a nice calendar with a little sharper images.

38/55 lubed with SPG CPA rifle Douglas Barrel. Last count over 15,000 rounds through it. Put one of the plastic bore reflectors in the breech.

Re: Muzzle Blast Patterns
I am thinking that:
The smaller the pattern, the better the gasses are burned before exiting the muzzle.
An uneaven pattern would indicate the muzzle is not true to the center of the bore.
Just my thoughts with no conclusions about accuracy.

You see them good on black powder rifles, We do believe a uniform lube star indicates a good muzzle crown. It's the lube that makes the star, hard lubes don't leave much. Suprised a jacketed bullet rifle leaves any at all nothing to make it stick.

Gun powder has graphite or some other lubricant and some of us use Molly on our jacketed bullets. The crowns on my rifles have more residue than most of the ones in the pictures shown.boats wrote: Surprised a jacketed bullet rifle leaves any at all nothing to make it stick.

The large number of 6 groove barrels is interesting to me - In the across the course HP game, I have shot lots of 4 and 5 groove and a few 6 but not too many. Is there some reason that anyone knows of that 6 groove barrels would be so apparently popular for silhouette?

I'm a 2 season newby but by golly I'm smitten with Lilja's 3 groove barrels.
