Barrel mounted chronograph

More expensive to feed, but worth it.

Barrel mounted chronograph

Post by Trent »

I'm thinking I might sell my Shooting Chrony Master Beta and order one of these.

Here is a pretty indepth review over on SnipersHide (very discerning group of shooters). The tests that have been done by shooting through both this product and other chronographs show that it is quite accurate and matches consistently with the other chronographs.

I've seen a similar product for airguns but a HP rifle would blow it to pieces. It must work off the magnetic field as it says otherwise I don't see how it could get a reading with all the muzzle blast right there at the sensors. Neat looking I guess time will tell if they are worthy compared to the old style.

Yeah, it produces two magnetic fields and as the bullet passes through each of them it disrupts the field. It works kind of on the same principal as how pick-ups work on electric guitars. The reviews I have read are very good, even compared against a Oehler 35P for consistency and accuracy.

I can see people aligning it wrong and blowing the heck out of it. =)) You know how they already shoot the ones they have now.

Not having lighting issues would be wonderful. Come on Trent, be our guinea pig and I will come down and help you test it. :D

This thing has two things going for it. 1) Ease of setup... quick and easy. 2) Not dependent on lighting conditions.

To me those two things are the most frustrating things to deal with. One guy in that review thread I linked to said he has over 150 shots across his and it hasn't failed to read a single one of them. I sure as shit can't say that about my Shooting Chrony.

jjp, the next silo match at Chatuge are 26 May and 23 June. The May match is a little close to Winnsboro's big match. I wanna shoot up there sometime.

I like the concept. Ease of setup is the selling point for me also.

Let me know when and I will make the drive. June 23 looks like a good date for me.

Be carefull when you get close to Benning Jason. They will take one look at your short hair, throw a uniform on your butt and you'll be stuck there. :ymdevil:

One would think that this gizmo would be very difficult to keep in place for a full 5 shots from a rifle with 7mm mag or more recoil.
