The Devil Went Down to Georgia, and I'm coming too!
First and foremost, I am going to miss my Colorado friends a great deal. Silhouette here in Colorado has introduced me to an incredible bunch of guys and gals. I will miss them the most. I will also miss my ability to fly fish in a truly remarkable part of the country.
My wife and I are bound for the Fort Benning area in Georgia. She applied for a job working with the Army and unlucky enough for me she landed the job. So, by the end of the year we will be living somewhere around Fort Benning. Either in Georgia or across the state line in Alabama. This is going to be a big adjustment for me but I am determined to make it positive and embrace the Southern America. I even went and bought a Remington R15 yesterday so that I can help the South out with their pig problems.
We are going through all the research of trying to find a place to rent and which area we want to live. My only stipulations are that it be in a safe area, I have a gun room, and the yard be big enough that I can shoot air rifle in the back yard (I would love an acre or so outside of town). If anyone is familiar and has any advice for me I would appreciate it very much.
So, Fort Valley... you will have a new face showing up at your monthly SB silhouette matches. I still need to sort out the closest high power ranges as well. Looks like I'll be shooting a lot less silhouette than I do here in the Denver area (every Sunday). I guess the Savage 6.5 Creedmoor that I have on order will be used for some long range precision or tactical matches instead of a dedicated standard class gun. I'll save the Shilen ratchet barrel for traveling to HP silhouette and use the heavy factory barrel for "down in the dirt" shooting.
Good-bye Rockies and dry air... hello humidity!

I second Bob's comments. While not in CO I like it there as much as AZ. Hopefully I'll be able to see you and throw some pills down range before you leave on my trip out to Broomfield coming up 'sometime' this fall.

A little black paint and they'll stand right out and with the wind the snow can't stay in place to long ;)Trent wrote:You better hurry, old man winter is ready to snow on our parade real soon.Bob259 wrote:I second Bob's comments. Trent, you may actually like it! Fort Benning is a good area with some good people.

I have heard this about the good people. I am actually looking forward to exploring what Georgia has to offer.BCloninger wrote:Trent, you may actually like it! Fort Benning is a good area with some good people.

Trent,
You'll miss McAlice, but not as much as he'll miss you. But then that gives even more excuses to travel to matches, just so you can catch up! Welcome to the deep south.

Feel free to stop in on your way down to Hollywood. We shoot on the second Saturday in Orlando and Chuluota (just east of Orlando) is the second Sunday. Also, if you bring an air pistol, Port Malabar is the third Saturday.

P.S. I recommend you start listening to Jeff Foxworthy to brush up on your "Southern"

Haha, I used to work with Jeff's first cousin, Sherri Foxworthy. She was always a heavy dose of "Southern". haha! I can only imagine what a Foxworthy thanksgiving is like!ShooterP14 wrote:Feel free to stop in on your way down to Hollywood.
