New gols for the year / New routines
I thought it might be intresting to see what some of each other goals for the year are. At a minimum it might get each of us to make a plan / re-eximine it....
Goals for 2007 -
Get (5) new "legs" into my grand slams (SB, HP, CB, or Air)
Make Master with (2) rifles (air and cow boy) and get (1) leg into both classes of SB (hopefully more)
Give myself an honest chance in the Trifecta. I don't mind loosing as long as I have shot my best. It is dis-hartning to know that I could have shot LESS than my average and won the vest last year... That hurts.
Shoot my average at large matches / Strive to make EVERY shot count and raise my averages in weekly/monthly matches.
Things going to "change" through training -
Going to shoot with both eyes open. Dawg introduced me to an eye blinder at the LA HP state match.... Seemed MUCH easier than holding one eye shut....
Going to shoot 5 shot groups with match air rifle VS just shooting scaled animals. Planning on mixhing up the routine.
Going to experment with getting "point of aim" spots on each animal instead of POI=POI.... (don't really know how conducive this will be for my scores, but worth a look comming from the source)
Would like to hear from others....

GOALS??? Um... yeah... first and foremost is continuing to wake up warm. And to continue my perfect record of leaving no one bleeding as I leave the firing line... And to shoot in no event run by anyone named Connors...
Oh..... SCORE goals.... I'm afraid that ship has sailed. There are some things I could try I guess. Chicken gave me a clue... I'll try to keep at least ONE eye open... the Ray Charles method doesn't seem to be working very well for me. Maybe trying to get the dot on the animal could produce some positive results, too. (Ever notice how good your hold is OFF the animal?)
A comparison of my match attendance and the resulting scores will reveal my true goals... I come to these things to have fun. If I had to shoot well to enjoy them I wouldn't have made the second one. The cross-section of personalities and the way we interact together is, as Dawg said, the circus come to town. When you have ringmasters like duckgumbo, chicken george, and cwdgun it's fun for everyone... even those of us with, um... less than stellar scores. I've been told that it's even MORE fun to shoot good scores in these matches, but
I may never know.....

Well done Chicken, You have encouraged me to come out and declare my goals for 2007. I think you were the only person to know my goals for 2006, so I will share them with y

Limey,
I'm never naked from the knee down, or is that never dressed from the knee down?
I do not usually curse at things, just occasionally people, but they do not understand my typical language, been known to use a touch of pig island once in a great while, me mum never taught me any other, and Dad well he was Annapolis grad, wouldn't allow it.
Lanny's book is a great one for learning to not use certain words, all I meant by my comment was that the score wasn't bad, seems I only dropped 4 out of 60, must have been the good spottin' eh?
Just those that I dropped were in inappropriate places!!!

All of your goals are admirable; however, since I don't practice or compete in our monthly matches my goals are rather simple.
1: Host the largetst attended silhouette match ever i.e. exceed the 2005 total of 197 competitors and go over 200
2: Travel more with Spottin' Kitty as he spotted my Master score last year
3: Practice some after getting the Southern National programs printed and mailed.
Pretty simple as I am a simple-minded guy! Like CW Slaughter I do not really care about shooting silhouette scores. For me this sport is all about the great people and friends that I have made all over the world. If is mopre about shooting the BS and relaxing around the proverbial campfire and hearing tall and short tales! Especially from the Las Nalgus Rojas bunch of Mad Cuban's!!
