Barrel worn out?
I just picked up a Winchester Model 47 and from the looks of it in really nice shape with an old weaver Model G6 scope. My question for you experts out there is that the bore seems real loose compared to my 1712 and my cz452. The rifling is still there but not as pronounced as my modern guns. My bore brush was real easy to go down the barrel almost so much I thought I had a .17 brush on it. My question is. Can a .22 barrel be shot out or worn out. Or, are the older barrels on some guns just have a larger bore on them?
Thanks for your advice ahead of time.

I don't know about the 1712, but CZ bores are cut tight, so everything else seems loose by comparison. How does it shoot?

If Shane said it was ok than you can bet it is, he is one of the best.kevinp wrote:Well I haven't shot it yet as the weather here has been terrible. I took it down to Neal Johnsons and Shane told me the barrel looked fine I will let you know how it shoots for a 50 plus year old gun.

I don't know how the bore of that older gun was from the factory, but I can tell you that my CZ and 1712 barrels are tighter than my other 22 barrels, even the two that are brand new and I haven't even shot yet. I wouldn't worry about it. If you had it checked and it was fine, it probably is. Go ahead and start looking for ammo it likes.

It'll put some carnage down for sure, if the temp ever gets above 32 degrees for more than an hour durring the day. 4 storms in 4 weeks and a 5th one on the way....whistle pig season is going to be good this year, didn't hit them as hard as I could have last year and I think I've found a few more spots...

I'll call, I'd love to get out there and get some range time.
**edit**
they are calling for snow, anyone going to bring a different color spray paint? I'm not sure if you've seen how bad the drifts are out east of town, but I imagine you want to bring the runner and maybe some chains to get back to the range if they haven't plowed....
