Yet another bolt handle.
I recently came to the conclusion that I no longer shoot my H-S thumbhole stocked heavy gun as good as I shoot a hunter stock. My last few years scores prove I consistantly score higher with a common sporter stock. So, I placed an order with Stockys Stocks for another H-S Precision PSS-001 ADL green/black web sporter stock. Should be here friday. I will have to inlet the channel a bit to fit the #5 contour 7-08 that was in the thumbhole stock. It is a single shot with a glued in adaptor tray so I went with an ADL style stock. A steel trigger guard and screws are on the way , too.
Years ago I cut the bolt handle off and made my own which were better suited for that stock. But they do not look so good on a hunter stock. What to do ? Make another one! (yes JB, I'm tooting my horn again. Deal with it.
) I looked at all the handles on the guns in my safe and came up with a design based on a hybrid of them all. Slightly longer than stock, and a bit larger diameter ball. A couple of lunch hours and some "free" time when the boss was not around and voila. That 's the ticket. Looks much better in a hunter stock.

I'm starting to think we need to make a new rule that you aren't allowed to show off your work on here unless you are willing to take orders, Bob.

That bolt handle looks great! I'm curious how the two pieces are attached?

Re: Yet another bolt handle.
The handles are 6061 aluminum so they will stay natural in color. I originally did this to help bring the rifles weight under maximum. A 5/8" long 1/4-20 threaded steel stud is on the bolt stub. They screw on and are loc-tited in place. Heat is applied to soften the adhesive to unscrew them.
I will keep the thumbhole stock cause I know someday I will go back to using it. For now, using the same stock and hold should bring my heavy gun scores more inline with my hunter scores.

I'm going to save your above post, in hopes that you won't forget. If you do forget I have a picture of a sugar scoop that I made in shop class when I was in the 7th grade. If you make us suffer, then you will suffer!

John, it would be an honor and privilege to rip into that Stiller bolt. I would lovingly craft and fit a titanium handle with a contour that of which pleases the little lady's senses.
Long may she stay mini, Mini-Kitty
........and damn straight I would post a picture of it.
Oh crap, what the hell am I getting myself into. Long day at the salt mine, John.....and I am only just into my second beer.
