Wish the schools back here offered that for the kids. Most of the shooting programs were stopped years ago.

259...don't you think it is about time you graduated from High School? I thought I was playing taking a bio class with the boy to see if he can kick my ass academically like he does when I get him to the range shooting.

This is extremely interesting. I would like to investigate this more to see if this is sponsored by the Nebraska High School Athletic Association, or if its sponsored by the state Fish & Wildlife Department. Here in Kentucky we have a Hunter's Education Challenge competition that encompasses a variety of shooting skills, mostly from game taking stances and postures, and from a variety of distances. The classification system is particularly interesting. I wonder how many of us would like to compete under those classes?jnyork wrote:Interesting article here: http://www.shootingwire.com/story/224973

Mary, your ass is as close to the sidewalk as mine so they are easy to kick.

I posted this over at rimfirecentral, one of the guys there had attended this particular shoot. The kids are shooting the lever action 1/2 scale targets is why the scores are so high. Still, a great program, seems to me, hope they can continue.

The Nebraska State Activities Association does not sponsor any high school shooting competitions. That being said, the shooting sports are quite popular in Nebraska.
Trap shooting is very big, with more than 1,800 students attending the state shoot. The "Cornhusker Nationals" is sponsored by Nebraska Game and Parks. The Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference has more than 1,000 shooters each week in the spring. Nebraska Game and Parks also sponsors the Nebraska State Silhouette Championship. While it is not as big as trapshooting at this time it is growing.
While the sport is not sponsored by NSAA many schools treat trap and silhouette as legitimate sports. I teach (and coach) in an all girls private school in Omaha and our girls can earn a letter for their participation in the shooting sports. Most of the schools in the area treat trap and silhouette as letter sports.

That's awesome, Tachyon. Can you come up here and teach these Washington schools to do the same?
