Iron man in Missoula?
Hey all, geese I haven't been on in a while, anyways heard of all the great silo shooting from everyone around the country and without going into everyones story I would like to congratulate everyone but I think Mallory deserves it the most, good job Mallory. Anyways, I was talking to lucho at our monthly match and he was talking about the iron man shoot in montana, I did all the researching I could and could only find a Missoula town newspaper article about the match, but I couldn't tell when and where exactly the match is held, if someone can fill me in I would love to attend this match next year, hopefully next year I will make all the trifecta matches also, but I would love to make all the big high-power matches
I do my best not to think i know it all, but i do know i know half of what i think i know now, so if i mess something up, cant i get an alibi?

Kyler, Great to see you come up for a breath of air!! How's the classes coming? The Iron Man has in the past, ( and I suspect this coming year) always been the first weekend in June. I haven't made that match yet as it runs the same time as Winnsboro, but knowing Mike and Monica it will be a great match. Hope to see you out and about at least a few matches next year.

Last year(2009) the local paper did an article on the match. I think it was in the Sunday paper which was the first Sunday of June.
The range is a little hard to find but they send a small map along with the entry form. It is always a little cool the first weekend in June so you don't need to bring your shorts. It is a well run match at a beautiful range. They fill up so don't wait too long to enter.

The last two years I've gone it's been the first weekend in June. The Deep Creek range is 20 minutes from downtown Missoula. The range is probably the best in the country (for highpower) excellent for smallbore as well. It doesnt really get warm that time of year in montana so bring your long johns, your jammies and your windproof hunting gear if you got some. There is an excellent steak dinner on saturday night and Mike and Monica Cassidy are gracious hosts and in my opionion run THE funnest match of the year. If you get a chance to go GO, its well worth it.
I'll be there next year and if it rings true in what they say "3rd times a charm" I should do pretty good ie; loading my ram loads with the correct load this time around

Oh, and Kyler, if you do go, and use a tom tom, or GPS of some sort, the bridge on Harpers Bridge road burned down, apparently a long time ago. Type in the intersection of Mullen road and Kona Ranch road, then there's signs and painted rocks leading the way to the range. I thankfully went to the range a day early and found this out.

With all that info I'll defiantly be going next year, thanks for the info on the bridge. Mary, my classes have been going great, halfway to my AS in ag production, also taking an EMT class and planning on going it o the fire academy next year, keeping both my options in the fire service as well as agriculture open. But I'm definatly staying busy with work and classes. How have you been?

Crazy as ever, shooting every match I can get to, mostly with borrowed guns, just for the fun of it. Thinking about taking more classes, but work may push me a bit this fall/winter so we will see. I'm sure you will enjoy the Iron Man, Mike and Monica are great people, and I have always had a good time shooting next to them in PeEll at the CBC.
