Best velocity for open class silhouette with 10.5gr 177cal?
I've got the Marauder ready to tweak for Sunday's silhouette match, and I got my air tank and hose assembly all here and ready to go today. What velocity would you say is the best for shooting open class silhouette? This gun will do anything from 1060fps down to <600fps with the 10.5gr Crostman Premier Heavy dome pellets. I was thinking somewhere around 800 to 850fps, but I really have no idea. I don't want to go so fast as to have any risk of target damage, but I don't think I could do that with a 177 anyway. What do you think? I can charge after every 10 shots as necessary if I want, so for this case I don't care about getting 50+ shots with <15fps extreme spread.

850 to 875 works well. My open rifle is running about 875

Yes 850-875 seems to be the sweet spot for velocity. When I crank mine up close to 20 ftlb and it exceeds 900 fps the pellets have a tendency to have fliers out at 40+ yards. Brought it back to max of 875 and it drills them again.

I agree with Dee. My Steyr/JSB combo likes 860 fps.
