At the Anschutz site http://jga.anschuetz-sport.com/index.ph ... &sprache=1
it shows the 1710 D KL with a 58.4 CM (22.99 Inches) barrel at 3.4 kg (7.49 lbs) and the 1712 54.9 CM (21.61 Inches)barrel weighing in at 3.3 kg (7.27 lbs).
So the barrel length's are only about 1 inch different.

I don't know the exact date, maybe 10 + years ago, but Anschutz made a lighter version of the 1712 called the feather weight. I think it was 6.5 pounds. Same can be said for the 54MS, the earlier ones has a shorter barrel, and they were lighter.

Re: 1710 vs. 1712
I'm restocking a 1710 at the moment. The barrel contour is the same shape as the 1712. It is just thicker. It is tapered in the same way. Here is a few measurements that I found online. I will weigh them side to side when I get home this evening.
Ans1710 1.000" for 2.75" then taper to .810" over 4" then straight taper to .685" (within .010" or less at any point)
Ans1712 .990" for 2.62" then taper to .720" over 4" then straight taper to .585"

The 1712 and 1710 actions are the same, the only difference is the barrel contour. Anschutz also makes a heavy barreled 1710 version, but same action.
