1712 Stock Question

Post by jdp »

The 1712 has a LOP of 13.8". Me having very long arms this creates a small problem. I want to experiment with the LOP until I get it comfortable for me. I have everything I need to accomplish this. I probably will settle in around 15.5". The problem is the butt-plate. How can I get it off without damaging it and or the stock. If I cant do it without any damage I might be better off with a McMillian, Pharr, or other and sell my original stock (undamaged). I would appreciate any ideas.

Just get a new stock. You know you want to. Hell, you got the new rifle for less than the price of the action.

BC...Jason is not bad, just trying to save him money and time!!! He is going to end up with a new stock the real bet is how long and what color?

Mary you are correct on a new stock, it is just a matter of when and what color. I need to wait until Jason gets his made and experiment with his new stock. Do you think he will loan it to me if he knows it will involve a cut up yard stick and duct tape?

John, of course Jason will loan you his stock...he is your son and a fine one at that. Nothing a little duct tape can't fix and I'm sure his LOP will be a bit short for you so it will need some extension.
