Bulzeyepro Optical scope booster review...

Post by Dee »

Just thought I would throw up a review of a product I recently got a chance to try.

Having read about these Bulzeyerpro boosters in American Rifleman Mag I decided to order one of their Target models in an attempt to boost my 6-24x 4200's up to around 30x as to avoid having to re-glass my silhouette rifles with Leupold FXIII 30x Fixed scopes.

Long story short my online order got lost and a month later I still had no booster. After some emails and finally connecting on the phone I was told about the circumstances and thoroughly apologized to by the owner of the company. After a nice 30 minute chat discussing his products he told me to be on the lookout in the mail and said he would send a surprise for my being so patient.

Well I got the package and I was stunned to find he sent me not 1 but 3 boosters and all of his highest quality models not the lower end I had ordered just to try out! So for my original order of a 3x booster for $52 delivered I got $450 of boosters!!! Talk about making the customer satisfied!! He sent a 3x, 3.5x and 4x with the universal mount.

These are very nice boosters and performed just as I was hoping they would. While I can not say for sure what the new mag might be looking at a 30x then the 4200 w/booster it appears about the same. I was worried about losing some clarity and I am sure there is no way to pass light through an additional lense without losing some but I have to say these maintain very good clarity and brightness. The owner said these lens are used on a lot of military optics including the laser sight on the Abrams Tank so they are a quality made product.

The scope took some adjusting to get the focus right. The eyepiece has to be screwed all the way in and then back out as needed to get a clear reticle. They also change the eye relief a bit and will require moving your scope back to maintain the same grip/form. Not a big deal but might be if you are shooting a .500 Nitro Express  . When adjusting the AO to focus it changed the stops for my usual ranges in silhouette to just a bit past where they were before so refocusing of your objective may be needed.

To mount they have rubber cups that self adjust to the eyepiece size and have a stop inside to get consistent placement. So far I have not noticed any issues with drifting POI to POA when taking it on and off repeatedly.

In my conversation with the owner he asked about my age and eyes and told me older eyes usually benefit more from his boosters because after 40 your eyes harden and do not flex to close focus as easily. Presbyopia(sp) or some such condition IIRC. I know lots of old guys hang out here :P lol I will be 40 this year!! EEEK!

Overall I would say if your looking to boost your scope give these a try lots of shooters are using them and winning big longrange matches. They have a money back guarantee if you find they don't work for you. I gave one of them to Jeaux to use on his FXIII 30x and he seems to like it as well.

Dee,

I contacted Bullzeye last week, via e-mail, to obtain information on a magnification booster lens for my Leupold Mk IV 4.5-14X scope. The very next evening, I received a call from the owner. He answered all of my questions and asked me the same questions he made to you before recommending a specific model. Needless to say, I was impressed that the guy would call from Rhode island and take the time to answer any questions, provide guidelines and recommendations, so I ordered a lens that very evening.

It arrived yesterday and I installed it following the instructions and I now have a 4.5-14X scope that can be readily converted into what appears to my eye as 12-32X+ magnification. All it takes is for the ocular lens to be screwed all the way in, then attach the lens. I put a little sticker on the scope that notes the number of turns the ocular lens needs to be backed out if I want to use the scope without the booster. This booster will be very useful for load evelopment and for long range (>500 M) shooting fun. It will also be intersting to observe the effects of mirage at longer ranges during the Arizona summer at 32X+ magnification.

My only disappointment is that this particular lens does not fit my Vari-X III scopes, although I am sure there are lenses made for them. I prefer the screw-in type, since the chance of the lens coming off is minimized and Mr. Murphy is always lurking.
Depending on how well this booster lens works after 6 months of use, I just might order another one for my Vari-X III scopes.

Regards,
Joaquin B
