Sierra Classic and New HPHR Grand Slam

Post by Varn »

Congratulations to Ben Marzella for winning the Sierra Classic. Ben also hit ten Turkeys with his hunting rifle to complete his grand slam in High Power Hunting Rifle. I believe that will only be the fifth Grand Slam pin awarded in HPHR. I believe Oneil, Kurreck, Sanchez and one other person are the only ones to accomplish this. Does anyone know if I am correct on this and who else has achieved this? Thanks and again congrats to Ben on his achievement. Mark Varner

I believe Paul Davis from Vancouver Washington has a grand slam pin in HPHR. Eric Boos may also have one. :D

I know in 07 Sanchez got his and Tony told me that it was #5, Lee O'Neil at the Az HP match in april of this year told me that he got his last year in Missouri and that his was #6, not a whole lot out there. Joy has both her SB pins, 3 in Lever, but none in HP. I know that Tubb has #1, don't know about 2,3, and 4 though.

I have a 5-in-a-row on Pigs in high power. Beckley can verify it (just don't ask about the profanity through the rest of the match)

I still remember his smile "High Power is a whole different game isn't it Webster?"

It says it all in the numbers... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4440

I got 10-in-a-row on chickens in the last match of the WA high power state match last year and never followed up with Steve about sending in my little yellow slip for it. My mindset then was that it wouldn't be all that hard to do again and we were trying to finish up the state match and get everyone on the road. Umm, yeah. I haven't even gotten close to doing it again on chickens or any other animal. High power is indeed a whole different challenge. I sure wish I would have taken the few minutes to fill out the form when I had the chance.

Get the match results, on line if need be, and then contact the silhouette division. I dont have my rule book with me, but the process for getting the recognition is in there when using match results. As long as it wasn't a 60 shot match, 10 in a row is pretty easy to verify, though you may need some form of 'certification' like the three witnesses who sign the slip in the normal process. Dont feel like the leg wont count; yuo just have more work to get it done. Tom

Thanks. I'll ask about it at the highpower match on Sunday. I still have the picture of the scores from the match with me having the 10 on chickens.

If it's possible to still get the chicken leg for HP standard to count, I'll try my best to make it happen. :)
