glen ring...no, there are few of us that have tried several times to get this and air rifle silhouette nationals only to be turned down by the NRA becasue of "lack of funding" to host such an event. We were promised
an air rifle event if we could produce proof of a match with over 70 competitors, which we did and have continued to do at Winnsboro and we have yet to have a National in these disciplines.

What will it take? How about some form of signed petition? I think that in the future Air rifle silhouette and Air Pistol silhouette should really take off. You probably have much more experience in competition than I do , but I have much more experience in being a persistent pain in the rear so give me some ideas. I have never participated in either sport, but I want to. The nearest match to me is a three hour drive into another state. There is an IHMSA air pistol match one hour from me, but I have no desire to lay prone with an air pistol topped with a 24 power scope.

glen ring, I can possibly dispute as to which of us has the practice in being a pain in the rear...just ask the 'engineers' that try to slide/cover up things past me here at work, and Greg Conner ducks when I come into the trailer at the nationals....all because I ended up sending a certified letter to Charlton Heston (after mulitple calls and letters up the chain) to get a national trophy I was owed from 1999 in Raton. To date I believe that I am the only one that ever got the trophy owed from that year, it is different from all the others.

As for a petition, we can try again, it was promised to Winnsboro that they could host a air rifle national if they could produce the competitor numbers....and then that promise was dropped. I understand your lack of desire to shoot from the prone/backwards prone or other contorted position. I say lets get all we can going around the country as far as local matches and develop our own set of national championships.
