airpistol silhouet sights
What sights to start AP silhouet? I have a co2 matchpistol, but wont it get too heavy with a variable mag scope? For 1 handed that is..Or is AP silhouet 2handed??
I was thinking a reddot, maybe a 2 mag or a 2 mag pistolscope?
I tried opens on paper target silhouets, but have difficulty seeing the silhouets..

Red dots are good for any sight class unless you desire using the Taco Hold with a rifle scope that IMO is the most useless inpractical way to shoot a pistol ever devised, yeah I know it works but not fun IMO.
I shot a round with my 10m CO2 pistol open sights and put up a master score, that ended my pistol career lol. You have to adjust your sights using iron sights for 6 oclock holds. You want to aim at the feet of the chicken and turkey and at the belly of the pigs and rams to allow for a full sight picture. Air Pistol is the easiest of all the sil classes I have shot. Still a lot of fun just not enough time for them all. FYI its 2 hands unless your just hotdogging lol.

Re: airpistol silhouet sights
Thanks. I tried opens but have trouble seeing the silhouets. Allthough I must add those were paper targets.
What holds do they use with AP silhouet? I'm totally new at that.
Only hold I know is 2 hands, pistol straight forward.
Allthough I can imagine you might be able to adapt the 10m rifle hold for use with a pistol..
Any other holds?
But you think red dot is better than scope with mag?

All silhouette pistol rules require no touching of the body with the support elbow.

Re: airpistol silhouet sights
Air pistol silhouette is usually shot two handed, but you can do well with one.
Red dots are normally not as good as the added magnification of any scope in seeing where you should be aiming. Iron sights (peep sights either front and rear or rear only with a post in front) is a much more challenging game and can be very rewarding. It's tough, but that's the challenge. Air pistol is a good practice for other fire-breathing pistol silhouettes.

Re: airpistol silhouet sights
Yes IMO a red dot with a small MOA dot is better than a scope on a pistol. I tried to shoot a couple scoped pistols both with rifle scopes using Taco hold and EER Leupold 2x using two hands outstretched. I will stick with the open sights and the two handed traditional pistol hold.
Remember the pistol Rams are only 18 yards away how much magnification do you really need at that range? None IMO

I'm using a refocused Weaver T-6 with a 1 minute dot. Taco hold.
The iron sight gun has a hooded Martens front post and rear adapter with a Gehmann adjustable iris rear. Taco hold.
Both on IZH-46s.
I've shot a friend's FAS with a small dot; it worked well, and can be held in any fashion desired.
