thanks for the kind words, i actually had a 10"x2"x40" maple walnut plank that my dad was going to make something out of 10 years ago but didnt. just started cutting, using a cooper jackson squirrel rifle as an idea, i like the shorter for end.

months and months later ,, turned out pretty good. all hand tools, files chisels and a couple xactos. i have not weighed it yet but am sure i will have to add a couple oz. the stock feels quite a bit lighter than the stock one. :D

Wow real impressive!!!!! You did a great job and I know all the hard work that goes into those type projects. I should give you a cherry blank that I have to make me one for my CZ 452, that I've been planning on playing with for sometime now... :-)

Bravo on the wood work :ymapplause:

whoa Just kidding!!!!! it is a richards microfit. it was longer i f' up the barrel channel. i could float a yule log so i cut the rosewood tip off... it was doweled in so had to cut some more. i almost scrapped it but decided to finish it for practice. it did turn out alright. it will be better for offhand. it should make weight. dimensions it is very close to the cooper JRS( that is why i even bothered).

i will go hog wild on the cherry blank if you want! for free!

cheers!

dave

ps the service at richard is as bad as every one says. but the stock is nice.

in all seriousness, the inletting was pretty good only minor adjustments, the only problems were i asked for a 3/4" straight channel, i should have measured but i ordered it on a whim. and i am terribly impaitent .i was hiding it from the wife so started the barrel channeling with a too fat piece od delrin round stock here and there. and the rosewood was much less sandable than the walnut so i ended up with a huge channel, and still was not floated at the tip. so i said (impaitently) screw it and cut the rosewood off square. now i had a dowel in the center of my tip so cut some more.

it was 130 dollars with a pachmayer pad installed for a select walnut stock. i do think it was more than fair for what i got. it was weeks late and they never answered the phone or e-mails. i know they check them because my one and only email from them was the order confirmation.

i would order from them again, fair price for a fair product, i just wouldnt order from them unless i had load and loads of time to wait.

besides, the 452 is very popular, at least in silo and br. there are very few options, theones there are are much more than the cost of the rifle.

now..... if some one just made pretty bottom metal........

Very nice work! What does the fore arm lenght measure from the front of the receiver? I think there is a rule that it has to be a certian length to qualify.

Found it.

3.1(d) says that The forend shall extend a minimum of 8 inches forward of the forward edge of the receiver ring.

If yours is shorter, you can add a forend tip.

that rule applies to std, i checked after cutting  hunter has no spec. and sb hunting rifle says same as hunter. this may make it a hunter only rifle. i think it is over 8 though.

The lenght of the forearm applies to both Std. and Hunter class rules. You can always add anything on to the forearm to make it legal, what ever you add to it, does not have to follow the existing contour, actually a piece of dowel would be enough. Seriously if it is 1/4" or 3/8" shorter, I don't think anybody would say anything about it, or even notice. The official jig used at the Nationals don't have a way to measure the lenght of the forearm. I would not worry about it.

thanks Evelio,

locally no one techs the gear, i just hate to know in my heart that i "cheated". i looked on the NRA site and checked the hunting rifle list and it says...Dimensions may not exceed those described in 3.1(d). well they dont "exceed" any of the dimensions i interpereted them that way ,and it IS a hunting style stock. if there is any question in some one elses interpretation then i want to err on the side of most likely outside the rules.

to worry or not to worry that is the question, it would be easier to answer if Jud loans me a 1710 :)

Dave
I would not call that cheating, a 1/2" or even an 1" shorter or longer forearm will not get you an extra target.
Real cheating is what I have observed at the big money matches. Owning two class books with different scores posted on them, shooting local approved matches, and not posting the real scores, having a trigger check and certified for weight of pull, and then going to the truck, and re-adjusting the trigger pull, even pulling the scope off with the certification sticker, and mounting it in a different rifle, you name it, I seen it, and sometimes if it is a repeat offender, we get them disqualified, and the reputation will stay on them forever.
