I was wondering
Years ago I was flipping thru the channels and it must have been on ESPN2 or something. The L.A. Dodgers were in spring training, and Lasorda was their skipper, he was hitting a few grounders for the infield (just for the cameras, I'm sure), but anyway Tommy said " To make it here at Tommy L. University, you need to give three things, a little time, a little sweat, and a little effort. I was wondering is shooting silhouettes or anything else any different? I am not a Dodger fan, always a Cincy fan, but after Lasorda retired from L.A., I think it was the Phillys that offered him a ship load of cash to be their G.M., and he turned it down and said that he bleeds Dodger Blue, you don't hear that to often! One more thing. I must be getting old. I was outside cleaning my shotgun with Hoppes No 9, I can't stand to think that Hoppes comes in plastic bottles, I have a glass bottle that I exchange contents with!

Your right Jim... Today most CEO, Exec's and politicians for that matter, only care about one thing and that is 'Show me the money'. CEO and Exec's robbing the employees and companies and making risky decisions all for the big bonus only to have the companies fold, like is happening in the news today and don't even get me started on the greedy politicians who are just as bad.
On the Hoppes, I still have some of the good glass bottles myself, some how in plastic just doesn't feel right does it
Guess thats showing our age

For all of capitalism's con's, be thankful that you can at least choose to play. Capitalism is based on greed and greed is therefore predictable. It's when people "rob" you in the name of ideas and philosophies that should really scare you. They are unpredictable and you don't get to choose to play.Bob259 wrote:Your right Jim... I have 2 of the old Hoppe's....new in the box... Guess I need to bring these to the matches and sell a sniff. Does bring back great memories of times long ago.
Shotgunners speak of the best method to train is empty enough shells to reach your knees, brush those away and do it again.... You will be a better shooter then.

I Was Wondering
Maybe I didn't get around much but, when I started shooting there was only about 2 solvents, Hoppes and Outers, and a couple of lubricating oils, Hoppes and 3-in-1. Now it seems that there is a solvent for every day of the week, crud cutters, bore shines, foams, blends and what have you. If one of the perfume makers would come up with a smell like Hoppes, they would sell a ton of it, at least at the rifle ranges. I've heard that it is Banana oil that gives it the smell.
