Sunshine Classic

Post by Innocent »

Offically starts tomorrow evening, but I've been getting phone calls from the shooters on their way today.
Weather forecasts right now are for mid 80's during the day, mid 60's in the evenings with thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.
But then who believes weather forecasters?????

Mordecai...shrimp not oysters but it'll still be good.

Dave...sorry you aren't making this one, but then you don't have to watch out for Crackers either.

See you there.

How prophetic! The secret weapon was going to be our blindingly white legs but... as the Sunshine Shooters know, I'm sporting a nice football size jellyfish sting on my right leg that just looks marvelous! 8) Pics to follow later....

Well I just returned from the SS Classic and I must admit I had a really good time. It was nice to put some face and voices to go along with the words posted here. Although I am still not sure who everyone is on the forum I can say everyone I met this weekend was great to talk with and learn a bit from while participating in my first big match.

What did I learn? To much to mention now I am beat  Main thing overall is that a match of that size is a whole nother animal compared to shooting locally. The challenge excites me and I feel myself going down a familiar road albeit a much more expensive one than in my past

Thanks to all those that made the event happen and to all those that were so friendly and kind to this stranger. Now I am looking forward to Winnie and maybe just possibly hitting a few animals there :!:

Hope everyone made it home safely.

Mordecai,

Us Florida Crackers are used to seeing white legs...and bloody Canadians going in the ocean before July 4th....generally we send them back by Easter though. Hope the sting is doing better finally.

Given your relative inexperience with the sun, being from the Pacific Northwet and all I can see how you might have thought it was a sunburn...Typically, just so you'll know for future references, a sunburn is much more widespread......Maybe seeing your leg was what made Dawg afraid to go down to the beach Sunday night....??

The hospitality was unbelievable. I'm going to try and say this with what we learned on the trip...

I tell you what, them southerns' is nothing if they ain't the nicest people. Great food, weather and prizes and for a couple of yankees, they were down-right friendly to us. Steak houses (and Waffle Houses) on every corner! They didn't try to get us drunk but a few times and they conveniently placed the hotel across from a dog track (that paid for dinner!). Those jellyfish bites gave me the red-ass and look like a dog tryin'a pass a peach pit.

Now for a few pics!

Man they got some scary stuff coming outta the surf! I'll take a jellyfish any day!

That's just a McManatee.......Harmless unless provoked....Don't try to take anything off it's plate.....

BTW, if that's one of the pics off of your camera phone that little thing does a good job.....Wormy has a nice one too...........she's got a pic of Dawg mating with a trash can at the motel that we're trying to figure out how to get to photoshop so we can lighten it up a bit...Will make a good posting for "Behind the Berm"....Won't even have to explain the pic, it says it all.....

BTW, in the shot of Chuck and Iceman I think he's explaining to Matthew "Only walk in front of the firing line when the shooters are NOT shooting....And never ever haul Kitty's spotting scope out in front of a live firing line"

That was a good one, and almost the waste of a good spotting scope.
