CRC April HP match report

Post by Bob Mc Alice »

Eleven shooters had less than ideal conditions for our first match of 2008. Steady, in your face winds of 8 to 12 mph with gusts to 15 out of the NW kept scores on the low side. The wind combined with the low 40's temp was telling us that spring wasn't quite here yet. The last five matches were cancelled due to bad weather, so it felt good to shoot a match anyway. The wind lasted thru the entire match.

Lee Oneil is one of the best wind shooters and he proved it to us once again. He was match winner with both guns, 25x40 heavy gun and 26x40 hunter. He shoots 6.5x55 Swede for both. Jerry R. won AAA heavy with a 22x40 with his .260. I won AAA hunter with a 19x40 using the 7x57 Ruger. Pistol shooter Bill S. posted a 34x40 with his 7BR Rem.
Overall, it was good match and was better than doing yard work at home. It also gave a few of us some needed trigger time in preperation for the AZ state match next weekend. http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z94/ ... C03675.jpg

Hey Bob, Hope everyone had a good time! Went down to Tucson this AM to get in a HP match before next week, a little windy there also. I think it had been last Nov since I have shot in a match where there was no or little wind. Don't know what next weekend will be like, but will hope for the best.

Hey Bob, look forward to seeing you next weekend. Weather there sounds like our matches in December and January.

I forgot about Tucson, so all the practice I got was my carpentry skills hangin new doors for the missus.......

Weather.com has Saturday at winds outta the east at 7mph, and Sunday outta the ESE at 5mph. Accuweather has Sat at 11mph with gusts up to 22mph.
But it'll be mostly sunny high 80's!
I think it'll be calm

Usually shooting scores right in class, too bad its the class below my classification!

The N.O.A.A. website is showing low 90's Fri, Sat. & Sun. Hope we dont get those flag ripping winds, too. We got a rain/snow mix going on here right now. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/MapCli ... -112.08240

In a wind like that most of us are shooting for entertainment value instead of score.
