NOTICE- New Air Rifle and Pistol matches in Baton Rouge!

Post by Dee »

The Bayou Airgun Club in Baton Rouge Louisiana is now going to hold NRA Sanctioned Air Rifle and Pistol Silhouette Matches the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9 am.

The clubs annual Cajun Classic Field Target Match is this weekend. We will be having the first official Air Rifle match the following weekend on the 12th and for now continue on with that schedule to see how things go.

For the first match it will only be the 3 classes of rifle shot and qualifications if needed. Due to a paperwork oversight we are still awaiting the ok for the pistol portion however it is just a temporary issue.

We have not determined a match fee as of yet but I do not expect it to be more than $5. At the moment we have a set of Scioneaux resetables so higher powered rifles (within reason) are ok to use. We will be getting more targets with any amount of added participation. If your new to the sport you can shoot for free.

Let me know if you have any questions and come out if you can. Even if you only have one class of rifle others will be on hand and I am sure you would be more than welcome to try them out for a match.

That is one of the wonderful things about our airgun club. You can literally come out and shoot the worlds finest airgun setups without having to spend a dime to see if you like it :D Not many places in the country where you can do that.

Thanks,

Dee

Dee, I run Smallbore and Air Rifle Matches in Jackson, MS. on the second Saturday of the month but not every month. We will try to attend as many of your matches as possible on our off weekends. We usually stay at the KOA Campground in Denham Springs on Friday night. It is too long a drive to leave home Saturday morning.

Will the NRA Air Rifle and Air Pistol matches be classified as indoor or outdoor matches?

Can you post directions to the Bayou Airgun club and an exact date schedule? In other words are you going to shoot every month?

Thanks,
Bobby R. Huddleston

Hi Atomicbrh, all matches will be outdoors. We shoot year round at the club and I anticipate that we will with the Silhouettes as well especially with the local SB sil match season ending in Sept. The reason we chose the 2nd Sat. of the month is that we have FT matches on the 1st and 3rd Sat and our SB match in Gonzales on the 4th Sat. Maybe when the SB season ends we will hold another match on the 4th sat as well. Right now it is a wait and see kind of thing.

I will post directions to the range via a link to Google maps and I will also add it to the Directory of Ranges and Maps link.

Any other details I am sure I am overlooking will be added ASAP. Please let me know if you need anymore info not given yet.

Thanks,

Dee
