Hunter vs Standard
Which rifle do you shoot better? Is the Standard Rifle really more "competitive" or easier to shoot than the Hunter Rifle?

Re: Hunter vs Standard
Same for both, but I score better in Standard because we shoot that first.

Re: Hunter vs Standard
I do as well but I'm pretty sure it's because we shoot Standard first then Hunter second. I've been Master class in Hunter rifle for quite a while now but can't seem to get there in Standard. It doesn't help that the bar for Standard rifle is 34 while Hunter is 32.

Re: Hunter vs Standard
My scores are close to the same in both Standard and Hunter using the same rifle. Oddly with a slight edge to Standard scores and 10 in a rows are three to one in favor of the Standard class. In my case I have attributed the difference to mental. I started a decade ago with my interest being a Hunter class shooter and Standard as a practice match for Hunter. Mentally my approach to Standard has been more relaxed resulting in a little more success over time. Obviously a mental lesson I seem slow to learn.

Re: Hunter vs Standard
As you digest the responses it reflects the rifle choice of the majority of shooters. The two classes are separated by so little that it’s advantageous for numerous reasons to shoot the one rifle that is legal in both classes. That situation should raise the need for some thought into what we want different classes to truly be or do want / need two classes at all. Attempts to alter the rifle classes might muddy the water a little as it reflects on records but it doesn’t seem logical the way it is.
Track survived the transition from yards to meters long ago, most folks never give that very significant change a second thought.
