Coldest June in more than a century

Where's that damn global warming when you need it? I want to be out shooting and riding my motorcycle, but it's too damn cold and rainy. This is after us having record snowfall this winter, also.

Btw, in case I haven't made it known on here, I think the whole global warming thing by human action is complete and utter bullshit. The climate changes.. 150 years ago everyone was freaking that we were starting into an ice age and the world was coming to an end, with New York harbor freezing up and people stockpiling supplies. I like that it's pushing more people toward finding alternative fuel sources so we can all give the finger to the Middle East. That's about the only redeeming factor about all of the
billions of dollars that is being spent on fighting global warming, when it's not something we did and damn sure isn't something we have the power to reverse.
Just had to vent on this. It's frustrating being completed surrounded by ultra-liberals out here in western Washington. One asked me today if I would "sponsor" him in a 10k run to fight global warming... that he's going to drive 200 miles each direction in his Cadillac SUV to get to so he can run a little bit. I told him I'd give him $10 to stay home and not pollute the environment by driving there and back. The look on his face was priceless.

Well then that would make you an utter moron.
Just because Al Gore and the rest of the liberals want overreact in attempting to deal with it doesn't mean that it's not happening. Even the damn EPA (which is part of the Bush administration) acknowledges that it is happening. The only thing in doubt is how much effect there will be and how fast it comes.
OTOH, whatever is going to happen will happen anyway. China and India are both on record saying they will do nothing that interferes with their economic growth to slow global warming. If the US went 100% dark, the CO2 that those two put into the atmosphere is still enough to keep up the accumulation.
So you can argue that the predicted consequences are only a guess, or that there's nothing that we can do about it anyway, but don't try to claim that it's not happening. That just makes you as far wrong in one direction as Al Gore is in the other.

I'm not saying that it's not happening. I'm just not egotistical enough to claim that humans are causing it. The climate cycles are what they are. It gets colder and then it gets warmer. That's where ice ages come from, as well as the "Mideival Warming Period" and the "Little Ice Age" that both happened in the last few hundred years and happened without any intervention from humans. It's been happening for a lot longer than humans have been around, and will be happening long after we've killed ourselves off. Sorry to break it to you that humans don't control everything in the universe. I know it's a harsh realization to face. Feel free to jump on the guilt-ridden "we are overheating the planet!" bandwagon, but if you want to
actually help with something, fight an actual source of pollution like the stuff that gets dumped into oceans and rivers all over the world. The two biggest sources of which are, you guessed it, India and China. If you really just have to fight carbon dioxide, then fight all of the clearing of the rainforests of the world that, you guessed it again, exchange that CO2 for oxygen. I'm a big fan of people that want to save the world. People that try to do that by screaming about things that aren't going to change anything annoy me, though. If you want to fight global warming, you'll have just as much success sitting out in your backyard shooting ice cubes at the sun with a slingshot as you will cheering at some protest or concert, and you'll actually do less polluting and consume less fossil fuels yourself due to not driving.

If it persuades us to reduce oil consumption and imports, it's for the good.
Worldwide, the climate is warming and there's over 90% consensus among climate experts that we're causing a significant portion of it: Somehow they forgot to ask my opinion on this... Their case does look at other weather cycles and concludes that this run up in temperature is happening much faster than previous cycles with unpredictable consequences. Whether we believe it's caused by human action or not, Darwin is in the driver's seat - adapt or die.
This does represent a great opportunity for us to develop alternative technologies we can sell to the rest of the world, and get cleaner air too.

Jason is correct and I also want to point out that you need to go Behind The Berm to post this bullshit propaganda! That is where you will get honest answers without any censure. This is a shooting forum and the Behind The Berm is for all the other nonsense!
I may just start posting mindless trivia so that my post count can increase to the Master Poster level! If so, look out for totally mindless rants and ravings in Behind the Berm! Maybe Marvelous Marv can join me as he is only a B class Poster for the time being!

Commander Kitty,
Maybe I should get on my soap box....as a 18 plus year veteran in the weather data collection field i can only say that all this hype in warming/cooling etc. is just that.
When all else fails manipulate the data...especially if you can't produce varifiable objective data. Not to mention calibrations, tracability, and accuracy of the datd logger, person collecting and formatting, the reliability of the instruments especially in different weather conditions....oh hell I'm going to run a test on a collector because you guys are hitting a very touchy spot wehn it comes to believing what you read/hear on the news.

I forgot that I was in the infamous BTB when I posted. Well done Jason to bring out the ranting and raving about the complete nonsense of Global Warming that Fucktard Al Gore and his Uber-Liberal media friends have concocted! If Al Gore can get a Nobel Prize or whatever, the next thing you know, Ted Kennedy will have a fucking holiday named after him!
Come on Bear, you did not ride a bicycle to Louisiana! You want to have less dependance on oil? Get all to ride bikes, ride trains and what they have done in Europe for years! Oh, I forgot that their gas is over $5/liter!!!!! Wouldn't that make our $4/gallon gas a bargain? Damn right!!!
I will continue to drive my Avalanche SUV truck and my Corvette and not change my driving habits one iota!
Come on back to the Dark Side and move South again Jason with us ignorant rednecks! Don't forget that Louisiana and Alabama are tied with the most crooked politicians but Louisiana has the most indicted and convicted!

Forums like this are a great outlet for introverted people that are easily excluded from verbal conversations by more outgoing personalities. Traditional conversations can be frustrating for me because it's difficult to break in without feeling rude, particularly when my opinions are in the minority, something that happens frequently with this group...
One man's bullshit is another's outlet.

I want to change mine to duckgunbo since Mordecai had my Steelchickens hat done with that name on it! He and Byron blaimed it on the fucktards in Washington, but I know better!

Talk about a bullshit way to dispute an argument... Show me verifiable objective data. Not to mention calibrations, tractability, and accuracy of the data logger, person collecting and formatting, the reliability of the instruments...
that proves you're not a fruit fly. Show me the credentials that proves you know what to do with the data. Are you a climatologist?
A collector of weather data??? By that logic, Brent Musburger (a collector of football data) is qualified to quarterback the Patriots next season.
Are you seriously denying that there is a buildup of CO2 in the atmosphere?

Carl,
Can you tell me that Al Fucktard Gore has the virtues that you espouse to tell us all the bullshit that the experts pretty much say is not correct? Do you have the scientific data to show that this did not happen centuries ago? NO you do not and no one does. I am not a scientist or expert in the climate, but I do know Political Correct Bullshit when I see it. We have allowed the liberal assholes to brainwash our country for the last 30 years where you cannot touch a brat without threat of a lawsuit from plantiff's attorneys who are the absolute scum of the earth and a reason for high costs running from health care to the $/gallon oil! The liberal colleges and universities have spent the last few decades getting this country away from the Christian values it was founded upon. If the so-called experts teaching the business and law courses in these institutes of so-called higher learning knew anything, they would be in business for themselves! They are mindless fucktards that are jealous of anyone that is successful and made a success of their lives on their own in the field of hard knocks!
Although a registered Republican, I really am a Libetarian and have always voted for whom I think is the best person for job be it man or woman regardless of race or creed. I am probably the most Politically Incorrect individual on this forum.
