My only suggestion is to have a strict requirement to me a member of F Troop and to post your membership list and not have self-proclaimed members that are ignorant and post this type of divisive bullshit.

What would you expect from a fucktard from Lower Alabama? Bear Bryant has been dead for 25 years and these dumb asses need to get over it! Bear Bryant was the greatest college football coach ever and can never be replaced. I have not flamed Alabama or even Auburn and will not put up with this young whippersnapper and his mindless rants. If he was so fucking smart, he would never have left the South!

And yeah, Bear Bryant was a great coach and all (not sure how he got into this), but he's so long gone that the kids going to that college now probably weren't even born yet when he left us. I respected him as a coach, but was already an Auburn fan and then went there for the engineering school. Feel free to let loose on Auburn, though. They damn sure deserve it. Notice I couldn't say anything about the LSU football team itself, as they actually try to keep a coaching staff around that knows how to prep their players for big games. Auburn's colors ain't a lot better than LSU's, but I'd trade them in a heartbeat if we could get the team with them. I assume the ribbing that I've been giving toward LSU has been taken as good-natured as it is intended. If it's not being taken taht way, I'll stop giving it. This sport is for fun for me. I assume it is for everyone, and we all get enough bullshit other places that we don't have to make any more of it here.

I usually try to be as nice as possible, but this shit's getting old. Since Marv has decided to talk about me in PMs and it gets mentioned here, we might as well pick up the spirit of "Behind the Berm" and lay it out for everyone to see. Marv, along with Dave Imas and a few others, was one of the ones that made me want to get into silhouette shooting. I started shooting silhouette a couple months before the Conard Cup in 2005. I had spoken to him once or twice down at the Tacoma Sportsmen Club, and he was nothing but polite and helpful. Between him seemingly going out of his way to get me into one of the last spots in the Conard Cup that year due to a cancellation and the knowledgeable advice he gave me while standing around at Tacoma, I was excited to pay him, "the" silhouette gunsmith as I knew him, to build me a rifle. I made it clear that I couldn't afford to build more than one rifle and I had to sell a few others to even accomplish that, so I had to make sure I got it right with my first try.

When my initial budget didn't allow for a full-on custom and I wanted to start with a 1712 barreled action with with Marv's bottom metal and trigger in a Pharr stock, Marv advised me to get Mark Pharr to do the work. He told me that Mark was better at stockwork and he was better at metalwork, not to mention that me made more money running his machines than doing stock work. It made perfect sense to me and I had Mark put together the rifle with the promise that when the I had the money to get custom rings and rebarrel (as they were the second and third phases of the plan) that I would bring that business to him. True to my word and as I had planned, when I got the money together for the rings and rebarrel I called Marv to get him to do the job. He was fairly gruff on that phone call and said he wasn't interested in the job, which was surprising. A couple others that knew him had told me that he had semi-retired and was only working on friends' rifle, so I chalked it up to bad luck that money was tight and that I had missed out on getting the best of the best to work on my rifle. Oh well, life goes on, right? Then comes the quote below that he posted about me on this very forum in this thread.

Umm.. yeah. No idea where the hell that came from, as what prevented me from getting him to build the rifle in the first place was lack of money, not abundance of it. I also thought I was saving him the trouble of telling the guy no, as I had heard him say myself that he had no interested in doing any work on or for a CZ, and he had even posted the following comment himfself in this thread.

Not having any idea wtf was going on, I let it go after my post on that thread. When people that know Marv better than I do at the Tacoma and Machas matches asked me what was going on and I said that I had no idea, they suggested various personal issues going on in Marv's life (that have no business being detailed here) that I had no knowledge of as possible reasons for him being on edge, so I chalked it up to that. I had no reason not to. I had only spoken to him half a dozen times total, and a couple of those were on the phone. I still recommended him to others because I had seen enough of his work to know it was great, but made sure to tell them not to mention my name as Marv has decided that he didn't like me for some reason. I stupidly even tried showing them the pictures he posted recently of his work as to why I recommended him, probably as much to justify my recommendation and to show them he really was as good as I said as anything.

Now I have gone from considering myself lucky to live in western WA where one of the best silhoutte gunsmiths around lives to wondering what the fuck stuck in his craw and why he can't let it go. Whatever the hell it was, it was a LONG time ago. I have actually had to apologize to two of the people that I recommended Marv to because he was an ass to them. One of them, he attacked on this forum. Even then, I PM'ed Marv the info on who the shooter was, as I know him and shoot with him every month, to try to keep trouble from starting. I started out wanting to move up in silhouette shooting and be proud to have that "Mr. Marvin" sticker on my rifle as I represented western WA at Pe Ell and then the other big shoots as I got better. Now I'm beyond giving a shit what got him pissed off and I damn sure don't want his hands ever touching one of my rifles. I have no doubt the feeling's mutual, even though I have no clue why. Not that I'm exactly topping the charts after three years in the game (was 16th out of everyone there at Pe Ell and made master in standard, but who gives a shit), so there's no glory lost to Marv for not having his sticker on my rifle. Even after him being an ass to me for so long, it still sucked to not have him show up for the Conard Cup. I guess I still had it in my head that if I saw him and talked to him in person instead of over the phone or on here, that whatever bullshit had happened would be let go or at least be told so I'd know what it was. I've seen the power of a smile and a handshake over a beer do as much before.

Now you know as much about the story as I do. As I said as the start of this, I try my best to be nice and keep everything good-natured, but this shit's getting old. To tell the truth, I think it's funny that of the two "experts" who got me hooked on this game, one of them (Dave Imas) is still top of the list in my book to the point that I hang on every word of his advice like a damn groupie. The other, Marv, is the only person I've meet in silhouette shooting that I don't care if I ever speak to again. Every story has two sides and maybe Marv will post his here so I can at least know what happened. If I had to guess, I'd bet on him sticking to his same old bullshit, though.

Yes, I know Jim Cloward and his wife Annette. He's worked on two of my rifles already and will be doing more. Have you actually talked to him lately to say that or are you just full of shit yet again? Yeah, that's what I thought. I work beside Cloward on works days at the range that we are both members of. At our recent awards banquet, he was bragging to me and my wife about his junior palma team. We have our annual meeting in two weeks. I'll be sure to ask him about you and if he's actually talked to you lately. I bet I can guess what he says. He's actually going to be the one doing the work on my rifle when we get a break from matches in the fall. He was busy before being the armourer for the Palma team (and would have had to send out the Anschutz action to have it threaded), and you had been helpful when I started silhouette so I felt that I owed you the job if you wanted it.

Personally I think the F Troop colors should be, Brown to represent the color of the stuff flying, Gold to represent the highest award at Winny the Golden Cow Patty and Orange to represent the color of the runner up awards the Franklin Parrish Inmate t-shirts.

I am and remain proud of my runner up shirt, still trying for the golden award though.
