Is that something like the German Training collar I have for the dogs... :-B
Exactly, Bob! Didn't recognize the damn thing until I started training Victor, but then had an "Aha!" moment. Not to meddle, but since you missed Winnie you might want to do a self examination... x_x

Mary, as for the thread topic, that was just a polite warning to a fine young fella... b-( And what would Winnsboro be without the human interest stories? \:D/

BB..there are so many holes in that one ear that the warnings don't know which one to go in.

Just an old dog telling a pup things he can't understand yet. I'm still learning from things Dad told me in 1972, and it's pretty neat.

Mom stop hating on my earrings they suit me.

BB to comment on the fact that you are still learning from things your father told you in 72, that is the thing I don't understand about the entire human psyche, all of the older generation has to tell the younger generation exactly what they are doing wrong and how they should do it. But this is complete bullshit because everyone knows you did the same thing when you were a child even when your parents told you their thoughts. Like you said you are still learning from it, so my question is how do you expect a child you use you thoughts or wisdom without the child having the EXPERIENCE himself/herself to understand why what you have to say is pertinent?? Everyone perceives and handles things differently, and parent telling a child how they got through it without the child asking for it isn't helpful, EVERY person has to figure things out for themselves in their own way, this is the way it always has been and always will be.

I think it's a moral obligation to warn someone of mines up ahead and the essence of free-will to let them go that way anyhow. It won't stop you, but it may accelerate the learning process some. Sorry if that sounds like more bull, and if I could explain it any better and save you some trouble, I would. It's probably part of the plan, because that limitation helps keep us humble.

No I completely understand the need/want to warn someone...
I am already doing it with children younger than me.
I just dont understand the expectation that the warning will truly have an effect in the short run, hopefully yes it will help in the long run but immediately everyone has to learn through their own experience. Because without experience there is no maturity, the one thing you can't teach is maturity you have to earn it.

Boy,
You know it can get damn cold in Florida in Janurary. And time moves faster than you realize. You have had lots of opportunities at experience and at this rate more will be on your way.

Hope springs eternal, even short term. And my oldest boy continuously flunked college classes the first two years, but then caught fire and just finished his second year in Seminary with four A's and one B. Right on schedule - ADD male brains need almost exactly two more years to mature physically. Patience and push are the tricks.

It is the wise man that learns from experience. It is the fool who learns ONLY from it.

God gave us two ears and one mouth so that you may listen twice as much as you speak.

A good friend once told me, "The school of hard knocks is the best school but only a fool insists on going there."

Yes, Coates, old people like us screwed up plenty. That's why we talk too much to young people, cause we wished we had listened a little better when we were young. Your mother may tell you more things than you sometimes might want to hear. Then again, my father said virtually nothing and I could have used some better advice in my life.

Just remember, old people are just yesterdays teenagers and YOU are tomorrows old person.

Another lesson I've learned is that age is about accumulated scar tissue, so try to make sure each creak and scar has a story - and a smile... 8)
