Twenty years ago, only state Supreme court judges were appointed for life while all of the others were elected on four or six year cycles. Until the 1960's, almost all of our elected officials were Democrats, although not liberals - Dixiecrats - another animal altogether. Think George Wallace.

Now George was a fine man! And yes I am old enough to remember him being shot.

And to think, that's the election we could have ended up with McGovern. :-q

Granted, Nixon had his flaws, but... I don't even want to think about it. @-)

I incorrectly thought the Wallace assassination attempt was earlier than 1972, but the Wikipedia bio was a reminder that if not for the '72 shooting, that election might have been between Wallace and Nixon. Talk about a game changer!

It occurs to me that if one of us had been after George Wallace, he would not have been wounded. Ditto Regan. More like Kennedy (dang but Oswald was a good shot! Another nutty former Marine, but a good shot.)

You left out Charles Whitman.

Quite often the only saving grace for Police is that the crooks are worse shots than they are.

Right - all I could think was "Texas Tower", but couldn't remember the name and figured the point was made. We aren't the ones folks need to worry about. Sure we get mad and disagree, but in the end we have too much respect and love for democracy and America.

One other point is that they were all far left wingers. Including the newest Amy Bishop!

Hey Bob,

Getting that post count up again, huh?

You may need to look for a "real" job!

I canot decide rather to register as an independent or as a Libertarian! I am sick of the Socialist Democrats that rammed the health care bullshit down our throats and the Republicans that cannot decide whom to back in 2012! Sarah Palin needs to go back to Alaska and do something else besides try to convince everyone how smart she is. All that I know is that she is for a fact smarter than your President - Barak Hussein Obama Fucktard! He gave our National Security away with that dumbass treaty that will probably not be ratified. Someone get his ignorant ass off of tv for a while!

Marv, where are you when I need you? just had time to post and rant!

Bob, start a new thread with a poll and see how many are voting for Obama next time or ANYONE else! I personally would vote for Marv!

Ducky, we're all ready to vote none of the above - heck, even I know that without a poll! But Marv?! Kitty maybe, but he doesn't want the job. That may make him even more qualified!

Last time I had a real job, they made me skip your party and that annoyed you, so I found a job where I could visit y'all in the summer and you're still mad at me! What gives?
